Day 2 – New York Fashion Week!!

nyc opening

Hello again from NYC! And happy Friday!!

So….day two… well lets just say surreal! Truly surreal!

We started the day off but going to the WantMyLook fashion show.

WantMyLook is the fashion website owned by the TV star Lilly Ghalichi. She’s huge in America and definitely my number 1 girl crush.

Outside the venue, there was a queue as long as Grafton Street waiting to get in, but everyone in it was dressed to kill, so I could have happily stayed outside just looking at the style!

There was so much press there too. Bravo TV, lots of street style photographers, journalists, it was just manic.

When we arrived at the door, the guy in charge of the guest list was chatting to us, and when he realised we were Irish, he gave us front row tickets!

I couldn’t believe it! Front row seats! There were three collections being displayed at the Want My Look show. The first one was by Michael Costello, the second was by Walter Mendez and the third was Lilly’s own collection.

It was amazing to see Michael Costello, but to see Lilly in the flesh, standing on the runway in front of me and smiling at me, I was just starstruck.

I decided on vintage mixed with a bit of high-street for my day 2 NYFW outfit.

The thing about fashion week is that you don’t want to turn up in the same outfit as someone else, so I knew I was safe by wearing vintage teamed with a bit of high-street!

I went with a really cool vintage red leather skirt and re-worked leather jacket from 9 Crow Street, a statement t-shirt from River Island, and Steve Madden heels that you can buy ON SALE here. I actually got these the first day I arrived which I talked about in my NYC-Day One blog post you can read here.

The leather jacket, which I had draped over my shoulders, had the most unbelievable red lining inside. The whole black and red look was very Louboutin inspired!

That night we went to an after-party in the VIP Rooms, hosted by OK Magazine and Boohoo.

My outfit for the after-party consisted of items from River Island which I picked up especially for the trip.

There were so many celebrities floating around in there, it was just so cool to be in amongst them all.

Nicky Hilton was there launching her fashion book, and her sister Paris, was beside her!

We were sitting at the table right across to theirs and it was so cool to see the Hiltons up close.

Dylan and I left at around 1am because we wanted to have an early night. This jet lag is awful!

We also had a Ralph Lauren show at 10 am the following morning, but I got up at 7am to reply to emails, writing my blog posts, and keep you guys updated on my trip here!

I would have loved to have attended fashion week in full, but due to my book commitments, I had to push my trip back a little and so I only got to attend two days of Fashion Week.

Even still, it has been the experience of a lifetime, and it’s only just begun!

Hope you enjoyed my day 2 update!

Day 3 will be live tomorrow
