There was great excitement in the TV3 studios in Ballymount this morning when Ireland AM presenter Alan Hughes got down on bended-knee and proposed to his long-term partner Karl Broderick live on air!
With the Marriage Equality Act 2015 having been passed on Friday, Ireland AM invited songwriter Karl to participate in a panel discussion on how much things have changed in Ireland over the past 20 years.
Little did Karl know however that the discussion would also involve a romantic surprise!
The couple, who have been together for 22 years, celebrated a civil partnership in September, 2011 in the Unitarian Church and was followed by a super glitzy party in the Mansion House.
