2015’s Colour of the Year?

Each year,  the worlds authority on colour, Pantone, picks a colour that they expect to be the most popular hue of the year.

This year they have chosen a red, brown colour they have called Marsala, which has been inspired by a robust wine.

Executive director at the Pantone Colour Institute, Leatrice Eiseman, spoke about their choice in a press release saying

“Much like the fortified wine that gives Marsala its name, this tasteful hue embodies the satisfying richness of a fulfilling meal while its grounding red-brown roots emanate a sophisticated, natural earthiness.”

Herve Leger and Dennis Basso have already showcased this colour in their upcoming Spring 2015 collections, so they’re ahead of the curve!

The fashion and design world sits up and takes note of Pantone’s choice, so expect to see everything from Marsala coloured couches and curtains to dresses and handbags featuring the look.

Pantone recommends teaming this shade with neutrals like greys and browns to make a fashion statement.

Do you think Marsala will be big next season?
