Plus Size Fashion: A LFW First

455547288

In a world where women come in all shapes and sizes, Can you believe there has never been a runway show to showcase plus sized clothing? Despite most high street retailers stocking sizes 6 through 16 (and more!) London Fashion Week has been strictly left to the petite models of the world.

Well that all changed this week when LFW debuted the first ever plus size runway show, conducted by none other than Topshop King Sir Philip Green.

Green teamed up top designers with high street label Evans to bring a S/S 2015 collection long over due for curvier, shapely women.

This is a big and important part of the market, and we need to be seen to embrace it. You cannot ignore the market place. And you can’t be defensive about it, or apologize about [plus-size fashion]. Why should the category be any different from petite?

Palazzo pants, crop tops and fun prints all feature in the collection set to launch in February of next year in time for Spring, all categories tailor made for women of a bigger size – Fantastic news. Its high time plus size women have the opportunity to wear current trends and not feel like they need to hide behind old fashioned plus sized clothing thats regularly been the only option previously. Hopefully this is a move forward for other brands to get on board and get Fashion Week to adjust to the reality of different sized women.
