Portugal: Days 2 & 3!

2016-06-13_1640

Hi guys

Hello from sunny Portugal once again!

Hope you enjoyed my first Quinto De Lago update and if you missed it you can read it here.

I’m back on to do a quick run through of the restaurants and bars we visited on day’s 2 and 3 because I know that lots of you are thinking of coming here and wanted to know about the area in general.

(I have also outlined the details for my outfits because I think a few of you said you had missed them when I posted the links on social media.)

Night 1

What I Wore:

Dress – (€38!!) here // Bra – here

Shoes – here

When I last updated you on my Portugal trip, I was about to head out with the gang for dinner. We had intended to go to Parrilla but when we arrived they were having their annual white party, which is a ticket only event.

We could have bought a ticket but as everyone there was dressed in white and we weren’t, we figured we’d look a little too out of place!

I was actually wearing this black blazer dress with mesh sleeves. It was a bit low at the front so I also picked up this cute strappy bra from Missguided.

Anyway, we instead headed to a local restaurant in the Quinto shopping area. Nothing really to report on there, but the following night we went to one of the best restaurants I have ever been in!

Day 2

So on day 2, we headed down to Julia’s bar and restaurant. It’s not far from where we are staying and it’s a really lively spot so we decided to hang out there and enjoy some good food and wine for a bit.

The thing about Quinto De Lago is that it’s very quiet. It’s the kind of place you go to if you want to relax, enjoy good food or simply to play golf.

For our trip to Julia’s Beach, I decided to go for a fishnet type swimsuit. Great wear when feeling bloated and brilliant that you can wear it as a top too!

Night 2

For our second night in Quinto De Lago, we decided to go to Bovina.

It’s a steak house owned by my old boss, Denis O’Brien. When I asked you guys about places we should check out, Bovina was the name that kept popping up again and again.

Even my own friends and family had told us to check it out so we figured we had to go see what the fuss was about.

We drove down to the restaurant and outside we were picked up by a driver in a buggy! The hill up to the restaurant is pretty steep so you are collected and brought up!

From the outside, it doesn’t look spectacular, but when you get inside … oh my God, it is the most beautiful restaurant layout! There was loads of wine racks on the wall and it had such a strong vibe of a high end steak house.

Before we were brought to table for dinner, we were invited out to the pool side which was in the most beautiful setting. The views were made even more amazing, by the gorgeous orange/pink colour of the sky. As we were sitting outside, we were brought some cocktails which we enjoyed while we shot some pictures.

I know that you guys really liked this dress I was wearing that night because I got so many lovely comments about it on Instagram.

It looked red in the pictures, but it was actually orange/coral in colour.

The material is quite thick too so it doesn’t show every lump and bump either which is good.

As always I wore my trusty gold gladiator sandals.

If you want a pair of shoes that you can wear with everything, these are definitely the ones to get!

So back to the meal itself!

The food was nothing short of spectacular and the service was A1. They couldn’t have done enough for us. During the night, we got talking to the manager – a lovely Waterford man called Duncan – and he told us that he had only moved there a couple of years earlier to manage Bovina.

He told us how many Irish holiday there each year and how much he loves it. He was such a lovely man and made our time in Bovina a dream, so if you’re reading this Duncan, thank you!

Once we had finished our food, we headed to the bar where there was some really lively piano tunes being played.

It was such good craic so we stayed there for a good chunk of the night, before later moving to an area called Quinto Shopping Centre. There was a bar there called Cuba and on that particular night they were celebrating their 7th year in business.

The celebration was in full swing so needless to say, it caught our attention! We headed in there for late drinks – the Portuguese definitely know how to throw a good party – and then afterwards got a taxi home.

The lads had to be up early to play golf, so they headed to bed and myself and Hannah decided to sit up and enjoy a cocktail we had made earlier!

Those of you following me on Snapchat will have seen some of the dancing and craic that was going on!!!

Day 3 Suzanne jackson missguided portugal

What I Wore:

Shorts – here // Bikini – here

Top – here // Trilby – here

The lads were up bright an early for their day of golfing (still can’t understand the appeal of golf!!) so myself and Hannah decided to enjoy some girly time.

We headed to Julia’s Beach and chatted and caught up on all the goss, the kind you can’t really chat about when the lads are around! Haha! The two of us then headed to Julia’s Beach Restaurant for some food.

Sunday’s are REALLY busy there. Every table was full and there were a ton of people up dancing to the live music in there! I have to say it was so lively and so much fun.

As you can see, my outfit for day 3 consisted of denim shorts and a pretty cool looking bodysuit top over my bikini. I got a lot of questions about the top. It’s so pretty and at €25, it was a nice price too. You can pick it up here.

Night 3 Suzanne jackson missguided portugal

What I Wore:

Dress – here // Shoes – here

Last night, we went for dinner in Parrilla – an AMAZING restaurant that was definitely on a par with Bovina for food but in a league of its own when it comes to setting.

So it’s set in a botanic garden with fairy lights in the trees! It’s so beautifully romantic. The scent from the trees was to die for. I think it might have been the cherry blossoms, I’m not sure, but it was a stunningly beautiful scent.

The restaurant itself is outdoors, and has the most romantic girly setting. A great place for couples, especially if you’re on honeymoon! I knew the kind of place it was because we had booked it online so I decided to wear this beautiful floor length dress from Missguided.

2016-06-13_2113

It’s pricey compared to Missguided’s general price range, but I swear to God, it was made like a designer dress out of BT’s. I couldn’t believe how tailored it was. It was so fitted and the quality was second to none. Even the sequins were hand-sewn to perfection. It was pure and utter quality. If you have a big event like a wedding and you want something that’s floor length but not a maxi, or a ball gown, then this would be perfect.

I know it’s not my usual type of dress, but I wanted to try something different because of the type of setting the restaurant was in. I can safely say this is one of my all-time favourite floor length dresses!

Thankfully, you guys loved it as much as I did! I paired it with my ever so trusty Gladiator sandals! (Honestly, pick these up before they sell out. They’re such a life saver because they look good with everything!)
