Hey guys,

I hope you are all having a lovely Sunday evening? Anyone watching the Xfactor? Loving these two hour episodes.

I am not long home. Earlier today I made an appearance at Lyrath Hotel in Kilkenny to support the Berkeley Unite charity in aid of the balcony survivors. Such a awful tragedy that left the Irish broken, shocked and hurt in the summer.

Today by appearing for a brief interview with Lorraine Keane on the stage was the least I could do to show my support. I would have loved to stay longer but my nanny is very, very unwell at the moment and I want to spend as much time with her. Especially because I have been away in Nice, France for the last few days with Expedia which I will chat to you all about tomorrow in a separate blog post.

Anyway…. last night all my friends decided last minute to head out for a few drinks. I wasn’t well at all yesterday flying home, I was vomiting just before we boarded the plane, I don’t know if it was something I eat or my banging migraine but I was so ill.

When I arrived into Dublin, delayed – I was feeling better but all I wanted was to chill for the night. After Carla collected us from the airport she persuaded myself and Dylan to come out. When I got home I still wasn’t feeling totally in the mood – I was still 50/50. After a shower and glass of wine, I started to get ready – makeup first – always! It helps me decide on what outfit to wear. Anyone else the same?

In the end I went with an all black outfit…. safe and chic. All black is the answer when you dont know what to wear :)

When I posted the picture of my outfit last night – lots of you had lovely things to say and again the request came in for the makeup details. I am going to get back into my youtube videos this week, so I will record a video soon. But for now… here are my outfit and makeup details from last night!

Outfit:

what i wore

Jeans here // Top: here // Boots: no longer available but similar here

So a good few questions came in about my outfit last night so I will answer them now.

1. What tan was I wearing?

I was wearing my new Cocoa Brown Instant tan and some Flormar bronzer over my chest.

2. What bra was I wearing?

None – the lace up area is really fitted so it gives you great cleavage and support.

3. Are the Missguided jeans true to size?

Yes they are a wonderful fit. Nice and fitted and a lovely soft material. If I was buying again though, I would go a size down, so that way they will be super super tight… but if you just want a normal fit – buy your normal size.

4. How much were my Louboutins

I didn’t mention them because they are no longer in stock or in season so they are unavailable to buy. But to answer the Q – they are €995 and a treat to myself when my book became a Christmas best seller in 2013. :)

Makeup:

TIP: I used most of my SoSueMe Brushes for this makeup application (as well as the others in the pics below) which you can purchase here.

Foundation:

To set the foundation:

As usual, I used the Fuschia Mineral Foundation in TOFFEE. You can read my review on this here.

I also used some of my Makeup Forever translucent powder to remove shine from my forehead, nose and chin.

Blush:

I used Buff Orgasmic – it’s a gorgeous rose/gold tone!

Highlighter on cheek bones:

As always I used MAC Soft & Gentle

Brows:

I used my HD Brow Palette in VAMP.

To set the brows, I also used some Benefit Gimme Brow in Medium/Deep. This stuff is amazing for keeping your brows in place, you can read my review here.

Hi guys!

Hope you all had a great week :) I couldn’t be any happier that it’s finally the weekend as I’ve had an insanely busy week of work! I’m planning an extremely lazy pyjama day on Sunday. We’ll get cosy at home on the sofa with the dogs and watch the Ireland v Argentina rugby match, and maybe order a nice takeaway too. I absolutely love Indian food, so that would always be my first choice!

But this week’s recipe for toasted cashew and coconut granola bars is also a favourite of mine. They’re brilliant to boost your energy levels post-workout or if you’re having a busy day, and they’re really easy to make too.

There are loads of different cereal and granola bars available to buy, but I’m generally suspicious of their ingredients as so many contain refined sugar and various preservatives. It’s really nice to be able to make your own and know exactly what’s in them!

download

These granola bars contain tons of goodness, in the form of pumpkin seeds, almonds, cashews, coconut flakes, porridge oats, dates and cinnamon. All the ingredients are natural, and a brilliant source of healthy fats, protein and fibre for smooth skin, muscle growth and repair, and a healthy digestive system.

To really enhance the flavour of the bars, I toasted most of the ingredients first to give them a gorgeous warm, nutty taste, and then added liquid cashew butter mixed with maple syrup and coconut oil. So delicious!

I really hope you enjoy them!

Chat to you next week,

R xx

I would love to know if you get a chance to make this recipe for toasted cashew and coconut granola bars! Simply tag #RosannaDavisonNutrition on Instagram or Twitter or come on over to my Facebook to say hello :)

How to make toasted cashew and coconut granola bars P1100929

Ingredients:

(Makes 8)

180g (2 cups) porridge oats (I used a certified gluten-free brand)

(1/2 cup) raw unsalted almonds

(1/2 cup) raw unsalted cashew nuts

2 tbsp pumpkin seeds

20g (1/4 cup) desiccated coconut

30ml (2 tbsp) virgin coconut oil

128g (1/2 cup) raw unsalted cashew butter

60ml (1/4 cup) pure maple syrup or honey

110g (3/4 cup) dates, pitted and chopped

2 tsp cinnamon

Instructions

1. Preheat the oven to 190C and spread out the oats, almonds, cashews and pumpkin seeds on a baking tray and toast for 10-12 minutes until golden. Add the coconut to toast for the final 3-4 minutes.

2. In a small saucepan over a medium heat, melt the coconut oil and add the cashew butter and vanilla. Stir well until the ingredients have melted into a smooth sauce.

3. Place the toasted ingredients into a large mixing bowl, add the cinnamon and chopped dates, and combine together well.

4. Pour in the liquid ingredients and mix everything together until it’s all well coated.

5. Transfer the mixture to a baking tray lined with a sheet of greaseproof paper. Spread it out and ensure it’s smooth and even across the top.

6. Place the mixture into the freezer for an hour to set, and then carefully use a sharp knife to cut it into bars.

7. Store the bars in the fridge as they begin to soften at room temperature. Keep them in an airtight container for up to 4 days.

Happy Friday Everyone!

So as we come back into the weekend there is nothing we all look forward to more than a good night out after a long working week, but there is one thing that is never fun… the hangover! We all dread that horrible feeling and would do practically anything to be relieved of it, so this post is to give you some tips & tricks that will help put that nasty hangover at bay! With the looming weekend and Halloween coming up, hopefully these tips will help :)

1. Water, water & more water

244718-woman-drinking-water

We all know that water is essential in kicking a hangover, after all we primarily have that pounding headache from dehydration, but drinking sports drinks designer for athletes can shift it a lot quicker!  The added electrolytes help to flush those toxins out of our systems quicker thus getting us back to ourselves quicker. Also a great form of natural hydration is coconut water. Try stocking up on a couple of CoCo Vita’s for the morning after. To replenish your sugar levels, try sipping some Sprite!

2. Fruit

Fruit

Fruit is a great helping hand through a hangover for its mineral as well as water content. Pears are in fact being researched currently for their ability to metabolize alcohol, therefore preventing a hangover!

There are also wholefood supplements that you can get from your local health food store that will top up your antioxidant levels  which will also help.

3. Exercise

yoga_blog_-_use_yoga_to_break_bad_habit_-_change_behaviour_-_womens_health_uk__medium_4x3

Now no-one expects you to go and run a marathon after a boozy night out, but doing a light bit of yoga or talking a brisk walk will help to sweat out those toxins! Make sure you also have a bottle of water at hand though so that you do not get further dehydrated!

4. Have a (healthy) fry-up!

0c5c38a34777b956f88cce03dfd4dbe2

Make sure you eat a good decent breakfast and try to replace those nutrients lost through that alcohol. Opt for eggs, grilled tomatoes some leafy greens and wholemeal bread. This will keep you going through the day. As tempting as they are when you want some salty comfort food, try to avoid rashers and sausages, they will simply add to your toxins!

5. Avoid – hair of the dog

images (6)

Remember that alcohol is the reason you are feeling so unwell, so don’t prolong the horrors with what seems like a quick-fix. By drinking more alcohol you are adding to your toxin levels, increasing your body’s dehydration and simply moving your Sunday hangover into a Monday hangover.

We hope some of these tips helped and will having you feeling that little bit fresher through the misery of a hangover!

Do you have any tricks that work for you? We would love to hear them :)

Those of us who grew up in the 90’s still have unwanted flashbacks of phases involving choker necklaces, butterfly clips, Baby G watches, pan stick and blue eye shadow, (and don’t get us started on those Spice-Girl-esque platform shoes!) but one thing we all remember fondly is the various Home & Away characters that graced our TV screens each evening while we faced into a ton of homework.

So, as part of our new weekly #ThrowbackThursday series, where we pay a nostalgic visit to the past, we have put together a list of Summer Bay’s most memorable 90’s figures and where they are today!

Selena Roberts (Tempany Deckhert)

selena

Every 90’s girl will remember the feisty tomboy Selena Roberts, as played by Tempany Deckert. She and Shannon (Isla Fisher) were the teenage BFF’s who always seemed to be hanging out at Elsa’s diner having milkshakes in their super-cute uniforms! And who can forget the controversy Selena caused when she had an affair with her teacher, Steven Matheson?

These days, 37 year-old Deckhert is based in Los Angeles where she is an accomplished children’s author and public speaker!

Noah Lawson (Beau Brady)

home and away where are they now

There wasn’t a girl in Ireland who didn’t have a slight crush on the Summer Bay heartthrob, Noah, played by Beau Brady.

His on-screen girlfriend Rebecca Cartwright (she played Hailey) was also his off-screen squeeze… until she broke off their engagement after falling for her now-husband, tennis player Lleyton Hewitt. Beau later revealed that “proposing to Bec was one of the biggest mistakes I ever made”.

It was reported that Beau was working as a labourer and personal trainer for a while, however it seems the Aussie is still very much involved in the acting world…except he no longer goes by the name Beau.

No, these day’s he prefers to be known as Johnny Brady, and as you can see, he has also (thankfully) ditched the bleached hair too.

Kane Philips (Sam Atwell)

download

Remember Kane Philips? He was the Summer Bay criminal w+ho found himself loathed by every Home & Away viewing nation after he assaulted Dani Sutherland. He later became a very unlikely hero after he rescued Dani’s mother and sister from a boat accident, before then controversially marrying her sister, Kirsty. The duo would later flee the bay after Kane was falsely accused of robbery.

Well, Sam Atwell, the actor who played Kane, is now the series consultant on FAIR CITY! He moved here last year with his wife, actress Alison McGirr, who is from Australia but born to Irish parents.

Steven Matheson (Adam Willits)

home and away

Summer Bay High teacher, Steven Matheson, was a recurring favourite on the show.

Surprisingly however, the actor who played him, Adam Willits, has since abandoned the acting industry and today the 42 year-old works in insurance.

Sam Marshall (Ryan Clarke)

home and away actors

If you watch Bondi Rescue, then you will be familiar with gorgeous lifeguard Ryan Clarke. Well, you might be surprised to know that Bondi Rescue isn’t Ryan’s first foray into TV as he previously played surfer boy Sam in Home & Away!

Ryan is now married to wife Gina and together they have two children!

Dani Sutherland (Tammin Sursok)

home and away tammin sursok

The Sutherlands technically aren’t 90’s stars as they arrived into the bay in 2000, however they are still one of the most memorable families and so deserve a place on the list. Hot-headed Dani along with her sisters Kirsty and Jade, brother Max and parents Rhys and Shelley were at the centre of a number of major storylines on the show after they arrived to take over the caravan park.

Despite being a phenomenally popular character, Tammin decided to leave the show after just 4 years. She was reportedly unhappy with certain aspects of production and wanted to pursue a music career. She is now an actress on American drama Pretty Little Liars and mum to daughter, Phoenix Emmanuel.

Kristy Wright (Chloe Richards)

download (2)

Irene’s foster daughter, Chloe, was the reason most guys tuned into Home & Away during the 90’s! Actress Kristy Wright played the role for four years from 1995 before returning briefly to the bay in 2005, where her character met a tragic end after suffering an embolism as a result of a car accident.

Following Home and Away, Kristy appeared in a small number of films however she has since left acting and taken up a career in event management. In 2013, she welcomed her first son, Jai Wright (né Jacoby). After a stint in Los Angeles, 37 year-old Kristy is now back living in Australia.

Gypsy Nash (Kimberly Cooper)

g1

Who doesn’t remember Gypsy Nash? She arrived into the bay in 1998 with one hell of an attitude and an obvious disdain for small town life. She really only won the sympathy vote after she was kidnapped by criminal Robert Perez in revenge for being imprisoned by her dad Joel 15 years earlier.

Gypsy is also remembered for her relationship with local boy, Will Smith, which ran for most of her time on the show and resulted in the two getting wed.

Kimberley Cooper, the actress who played Gypsy, briefly returned to Home and Away in September 2011. These days however, she is based in LA where she continues to act while also developing her career as a playwright.

Shane Parish (Dieter Brummer)

download (3)

EVERYONE, (and we mean everyone, including even non-Home & Away fans) remember Summer Bay’s Shane and Angel. They were like the Ross and Rachel of Home & Away, so much so that both actors are still to this day plagued with questions about their time on the show.

If Melissa George’s angry rants about the show in recent years are anything to go by, then it would appear that only Dieter still enjoys the association with the show. Apparently he spent some time making appearances at venues around the world as ‘Shane from Home & Away’ and now works as a window cleaner between acting acting roles, some of which have been in prominent shows such as Underbelly.

We here at SoSueMe can still remember the shock when Shane died, and so, in-keeping with our #ThrowbackThursday theme, we decided to take a teary trip down memory lane with this….

Admit it, you bawled!

So before I headed off for Nice, I got super-organised and wrote up some blog posts so you guys would still have new content to enjoy while I was away. Personally, I love wearing cosy jumpers during the cold months! There’s nothing like it!

As much as I love my crop tops and tees, there’s just something really nice about a stylish over-sized jumper, especially when paired with leather-style or dark navy Molly’s, high heels and chunky jewellery! :-)

So, with autumn season now in full-swing, I have pulled together the cutest jumpers from all your favourite brands such as Victoria’s Secret and River Island so you can find them all in one place!

Hi guys!

As you may already know I recently gave a talk at the Ultimate Wedding Fair in Limerick. It was a huge hit and my tips went down so well with brides-to-be that it got me thinking about running a weekly bridal prep blog post on SoSueMe.

What do you guys think? Would you like that? :-)

And before you ask, no I am not engaged!! Basically I received so many emails following my talk at the wedding fair in Limerick that I could see there was an appetite for wedding advice so I decided to start a series.

Each week my bridal blog post will centre around a different topic such as skincare, hair, makeup, etc, and anything else you wish to know about!

Today I’m going to kick off with a topic that is often overlooked during wedding prep but yet is the most important one of all. Well-being.

You can have the most amazing venue, the most incredible dress, the best hair and makeup team, but if you are not feeling good on the inside, trust me it will show.

There’s so much information out there on how to look your best on your wedding day, but what about feeling your best? Stress can do some crazy things to the body, both physically and mentally, and if you don’t look after yourself properly, you could be headed for a melt-down.

To ensure you feel your absolute best on your wedding day, the first thing you should do is set a number of specific goals. It’s a good idea to put these in motion around 15 months in advance. The months will fly by so it’s better to start as early as possible!

Here are the goals I would suggest:

cf0cd8c42a80fc08be4c0daebecb05fd

1. Yoga / Pilates / Gym

One of the best things you can do is set aside time for a stress-busting activity. Yoga is HUGELY beneficial and equally as good for the body as it is for the mind. Pilates likewise is a great exercise and so useful as a stress-reliever. The Irish rugby team even practice it as part of their training regime!

If you need a boost of motivation, then I would recommend hiring a personal trainer. Shop around, they’re not as expensive as you might think.

Unless you’re really self-disciplined and committed, it can be difficult to stick to a gym routine. If you’re tired, it’s just all too easy to make an excuse not to go! Trust me, I completely understand! Dylan loves hitting the gym, but personally I prefer an exercise class. If I can’t make it to a class, I go out for a walk in the evening and get some fresh air. You 100% need to have a way in which you can clear your head. A cycle around the park, a brisk walk, whatever helps, do it! The combination of exercise and fresh air will greatly help your mood and relieve any pent up stress and anxiety.

Exercise will also help you with your energy levels, and you will probably find that your quality of sleep improves too. Planning a wedding involves a lot of work and multitasking. Exercise is one of the best ways to prevent the workload from taking its toll.

2. Replace the bad with the good!

If we’re being honest with ourselves, we could all stand to improve our diets. I know from my own experience that whenever I make a point of eating right, I always feel so much better as a result. If you change the type of food you eat for the better, you will absolutely notice a major difference in how you look and feel.

You don’t have to go hard-core healthy, just start by cutting out the crap. When you get a sense of how good you can feel on an improved diet, you will want to continue. You don’t need to restrict yourself, just try to make better food choices, particularly by cutting down on sugar-heavy foods. Try it for a month and you will feel like a new person by the end of it.

3. Drink more water

If you suffer from fluid retention, then it’s a good idea to drink one to two litres of water a day. When you’re not drinking enough water, the body starts to retain it and this is why fluid retention can make you look more bloated. If, however, you start drinking around 2 litres a day, your body won’t feel the need to retain the fluid. Your skin should also look beautifully clear as a result of increase water intake.

I remember reading an interview with the actress America Ferrera in which she said the best thing she ever did for her skin was to start drinking 2 litres of water.

4. Dental

If needed, fix any dental problems. When I first met Dylan, he had a big hang-up about his teeth and so, he was reluctant to smile in photos. I had wanted to improve my smile too, so he and I went through our Invisalign journey together. We both loved the results and the improvement had a knock-on effect on his self-esteem and confidence.

Dental problems can really affect your confidence. If you’re really conscious of your smile, then you should have a chat with your dentist about possible improvements. There are so many options available such as Invisalign braces, 6 month braces, temporary veneers, laser whitening, etc. If the price is out of your range, then ask your dental practice about a payment plan so you can pay it off over a certain length of time. There are always options available.

5. Start a vitamin plan

If you’re like me and on the road a lot or if you’re a busy mum always on the go, then give yourself a boost with a vitamin plan. I don’t recommend relying on a vitamin capsules alone. You absolutely need to be eating the right foods, but a vitamin supplement is a great way to give your body and mind an additional boost. I’m on the Juice Plus plan and I noticed a huge difference after I started it. I got my Juice Plus course from Julie Martin, so I would definitely recommend chatting with her if you have any questions about the range.

6. Meditate

I really want to start doing this myself. I have heard so many good things about the benefits of meditation. From what I have read about it, it’s a wonderful way to de-stress. All you have to do is find a quiet space and sit down with your eyes closed. I sometimes find it difficult to completely empty my mind as it’s always buzzing with ideas, blog stuff, and to-do lists, but apparently if you find your mind wandering, just concentrate on your breathing and you will be back on track.

If you have any questions regarding bridal beauty prep, just comment below and I will make sure to answer them in my next post!

Hi guys!

So last week I announced that I would be doing a weekly Snapchat Q&A Session in which I would answer some of your most commonly asked questions. Below are this week’s top 10!

Don’t forget, if you’re on Snapchat and want to send me a question, you can follow me on sosueme_ie!

Enjoy

xx

************************

1. What is your favourite hairspray?

I love the TRESemmé Perfectly Undone Ultra-Brushable Hairspray. It’s been a favourite of mine for months now.

I was introduced to the product during a collaboration with TRESemmé last summer and I have been a fan of it ever since. Recently however I began using Dylan’s hairspray, Got 2 B Glued from Schwarzkopf again. It’s brilliant! I sprayed this on my hair last Friday night to create a sleek look.

2. When will the SOSU Lashes be available?

They will be available after Christmas, hopefully around February just in time for Valentines! I’ll be keeping you informed though so you will know well in advance! I have been road testing them for some time now to make sure they are 100% perfect before they go on sale and I am so happy with them. I just know you are going to LOVE them!

3. What tan do you use?

I have a couple of different faves, to be honest.. and I go through phases!

For a spray tan, I like exposed or Lauren’s Way. When it comes to developing tans, I usually go for the mist by St Moriz.

My instant tan of choice has got to be Cocoa Brown Shimmer Gel, which I included in my September faves blog post. The shimmer in this is so beautiful and it smells divine too!

4.What can I use to cover dark circles?

Use colour correctors. To figure out which shade of concealer/corrector you need, look at the colour wheel. What colour is opposite the colour you want to cover? Lilac is for under-eye circles, green is for redness, etc. CrownBrush and Make Up For Ever have some brilliant colour correctors. I would also suggest that you invest in good eye cream.

sosueme Colour Wheel

5. What makeup remover do you use?

Lately I have been using Dizzolv’IT MakeUp Melt Cleansing Balm from Cailyn Ireland, which I find to be a great makeup remover. It has a balmy-like texture, which might not be to everyone’s taste, though if you have very dehydrated skin like me, then you will more than likely LOVE the texture.

I have to say, it really does melt away the makeup like it promises. When I’m filming, I wear heavy foundation and eye makeup but it all comes off quite easily once I start massaging Dizzolv’IT on to the skin. It cleanses the skin so thoroughly and removes all makeup and product residue so afterwards your face feels ridiculously soft and clean.

I had an inkling from the get go that I would like this product as I had already been left really impressed by the other products I had tried from the Cailyn Ireland range. (It’s also worth noting that Dizzolv’IT comes in two sizes, 50g, and 100g.)

Once my makeup is off, I like to apply some eye cream and moisturiser. This month I have been using L’occitane Creme Divine Moisturiser which I blogged about last week in my September Favourites post (omg, ADORE this product!)

sosueme blog Dizzolv'IT

6. What is your favourite foundation?

I’m a big fan of the Make Up For Ever range of foundations, and lately I am loving their Ultra HD Stick Foundation. I usually apply a Make Up For Ever liquid foundation first and then if I need extra coverage, I apply the foundation stick over it. It’s sooo good!

makeup forever HD

7. Why did you stop using Balayage?

I just found it too hard to maintain and to manage to be honest. The bleach combined with the styling products just seemed to really dry out my hair in the end. On top of that, because it was two tone, it didn’t look its best unless it was styled, so every day I would have to either style it or throw it up in a bun! Anyone who knows me knows I’m not into styling my hair every day. Don’t get me wrong, I loved the look of it, but it was a lot of work and I prefer when my hair isn’t a lot of work.

lighter hair

8. What is your favourite online shop?

Missguided – always! You are guaranteed to always find what you are looking for there!

9. What counties are you planning on bringing your workshops to next?

Limerick is next on the agenda but it’s already sold out (thank you everyone). We are currently planning workshops for Athlone, Dublin, Galway and Cork. The minute we have everything confirmed, I will let everyone know.

10. Where did you get your glasses?

The glasses I wear most often are by Max & Co. I got them in Specsavers. I also have a pair of Boss Orange specs too which I’m wearing in the pic below. About 2 years ago I found that I was becoming more and more prone to headaches and that my eyes were often very tried and sore. Turns out I needed glasses … one of the consequences of having a job that involves sitting in front of a computer screen for hours on end!

I had my eyes tested in Specsavers and afterwards I picked up some nice Max & Co specs.

Jennifer Aniston Emirates Airline

Jennifer Aniston is as much of a savy businesswomen as she is a Hollywood actress, but if the backlash to her latest venture with Emirates Airlines is anything to go by, this ambassadorship may be one she’s now regretting somewhat.

When the ad was first dropped on Youtube last week, fans reacted angrily, branding it arrogant, snobby and elitist. They lashed out at Jen’s involvement in the collaboration, stating that she has lost touch with reality.

In short, the ad features Jennifer having a nightmare in which she’s flying coach with an airline that has no luxury facilities. When the air hostesses inform her there’s no shower or bar on the plane, she faints in horror before waking up in the surroundings of her plush Emirates bed complete with gold trimmings. She is also visibly relieved that her ‘coach experience’ was just a bad dream.

The ad, for which Jen was apparently paid $5 million, ends with her enjoying a cocktail at the plane bar while regaling the barman with her account of the horrible nightmare.

You can watch the ad for yourselves. What do you guys think? Arrogant, or so over-the-top it’s funny?

Hey everyone,

I hope you all had a nice weekend!

So on Friday night, myself and my friends got together and went to Siam Thai in Malahide for dinner before going on to a club afterwards. With a busy working week, multiple trips to visit my sick nanny and searching for missing Ringo (my friends dog who is now home safe) all evening, I really wasn’t in the mood to go getting ready never mind head out on the town!

I had no tan on, my hair was a mess and I had nothing to wear (I know me, a fashion blogger with nothing to wear, but I SWEAR! haha!) I think I was just in one of those moods.

After a hot shower though, I was in much better form and decided to get into the spirit of things and head out with the gang.

Top: Similar here // Jacket: Similar here // Jeans: here // Bag: YSL // Boots: Louboutins

I quickly decided to go with comfy jeans and a top (typical me ha!) While in Dallas last April with RewardSTYLE I wore this fab crop top and havent worn it since, so I went with that and my high-waisted mollys.

To finish off the look I chose my comfy Louboutins booties and a stunning waterfall jacket that I was kindly gifted while in Donegal thanks to McElhinneys department store, which I believe sold out online that evening. It really is FAB on and I hope they get some more back in stock.

In relation to my makeup – omg, I was blown away by the response. You guys really loved the lippy. I was actually in two minds about it before I went out, so much so that I snapchatted (@sosueme_ie) asking what everyone thought and after every snap came back saying a big yes – I went with it, so thank you all for that :)

Sometimes, you just need the extra push or boost to wear something a little different!

The lippy was by SLEEK Makeup and it comes in shade ‘Mulberry’. I am going to do a full makeup blog later and I also hope to record a makeup and hair tutorial this week to showcasing the look, so if you want one – let me know in the comments on Facebook under this post.

My hair was literally thrown into this bun and after getting it shaped nice and pinned down, I used a tonne of hairspray for that sleek look. It really wasn’t hard to do, so I hope to show you all in a video tutorial this week too.

Have a lovely Monday and I will catch up with you all later!

Hi Guys!

Hope you are all enjoying your Sunday :)

If you are anything like us, you are totally crushing on all things leather at the moment. Leather is a timeless trend and has survived all recent decades but, what what is changing is how we wear it! We have moved from the simple leather jacket onto leather dresses, skirts, shirts you name it. A trend that is easily made your own and adapted to your look, we have something for everyone in this style edit :)

Check it out!

The LBLD (little black leather dress)

hg

So first up we have the LBLD. A huge trend at the moment, the leather dress is a staple wardrobe piece. Our first look, this River Island Black leather panel bodycon dress is gorgeous for a night out with the girls or a date night. It is real night-wear piece featuring a high neck and a wrap-over style. A great party dress coming in at a very reasonable €50.

This next dress is from the Zoe Jordan design forum for River Island. This is a real day-night dress that you could wear with tights and boots during the day, or tan the legs and pop on a heel for night.

Pricier than the other two dresses at €160, this is an investment piece as it has a timeless shape that you would get great wear out of.

Lastly is this 2-in-1 bodycon dress once again from River Island. This dress is incredibly chic and would suit you ladies out there that aren’t too fond of their arms. The leatherette skirt will nip you in on the waist and create a gorgeous silhouette (it will especially suit you ladies rocking a booty). Coming in at €67, this dress would be gorgeous for dinner out or even glammed up for the up-coming party season!

Shop The Dresses

The Leather Skirt

ed

We LOVE leather skirts in SoSueMe HQ. Made a style staple by the likes of Kim K, they suit every body shape from slim to curvy.

This first leather style (no1) is a gorgeous pencil shape taupe skirt which can be worn as a transitional piece from day to night. It would make a great work skirt with a crisp white shirt tucked! We love the feminine shape pencil skirts give and with the leather detail in this one it is bang on trend!

Our second piece is this black number from River Island. This paneled skirt is also that a beautiful pencil shape that comes down just above the knee so is a perfect piece for working into your everyday wardrobe as well as a fab outfit for a night on the town. A black leather-look skirt is a real investment piece and will never go out of style. Style as suggested above with a turtle-neck and heels.

Lastly (no3) is such a girly style which we would style with opaque tights and a pair of Chelsea boots. It is a great easy-wear piece and would be gorgeous with knitwear this upcoming chilly season!

Shop The Skirts

The Leather Top

yf

How cool are leather tops? Such a trendy way to incorporate leather into your outfit.

Our first look is a leather-look shirt. We would team this with a pair of black skinny jeans and boots. Very Miranda Kerr :)

Next is this Leather Tab Top from Zoe Jordan’s Design Forum for River Island. You may have seen this on Sue during the week while she was filming for an upcoming project! It is so designer looking and a real wow-piece if you are looking for a style for a special occasion.

Lastly is this leather bralet, don’t be alarmed, we wouldn’t be wearing this on its own :) Bralets are great for under a low-cut shirt or a top that is just that bit too revealing. By all means you could also wear this on it’s own with high-waisted trousers and a blazer for a more daring look.

Shop The Tops

So what do you guys think? Are you also loving leather?

Hi guys!

So you might remember a few weeks back I mentioned on my Instagram that I was going to start a ‘supporting Irish’ blog post every Friday in which I would recommend 5 top figures in a particular industry.

With over 200,000 followers on Facebook and 155,000 on Instagram, not a day goes by that I don’t get questions from readers asking me to recommend someone or some place for makeup, hair, skincare, shopping, wining, dining … you name it, I’ve been asked about it!

As a result, I decided it would be nice to start a blog post series in which entrepreneurs and businesses are given the credit they deserve.

For now, the blog post will be based solely on my own experiences, but I’m hoping in time we will be able to have some sort of a poll so you guys can have your say and give every county a chance to be featured!

sosueme crownbrush

To kick off the series this week, I’m going to start with makeup artists.

I’ve done A LOT of photoshoots and TV work, particularly in the last year, so Lord knows, I have worked with my fair share of makeup artists!

So, whether you are looking for a makeup artist to help you look your beautiful best on your wedding day, or looking for someone to help create some seriously impressive face makeup to complete your Hallowe’en costume, then I would definitely recommend any one of these five!

1. Michelle Regazzolli Stone

download (2)

Michelle is one of the best I have ever worked with.

She was responsible for my makeup when we were shooting the photographs and cover for my second book ‘SoSueMe – What Happened Next’, and she also did my makeup for the upcoming SOSU Autumn/Winter campaign.

Michelle is an extremely talented makeup artist and in my experience, a total perfectionist. She is based in Dublin but is regularly back and forth from the UK. She is currently working with numerous UK celebs such as Samantha Faiers (actually she’s the makeup artist Sam always calls whenever she has a big campaign coming up!) Michelle was also the lady responsible for Rosanna Davison’s stunning wedding makeup.

Here’s Michelle’s Instagram @MrsMakeup_ie.

2015-10-09_0117

2. Michelle Montgomery

The first time Michelle and I worked together was earlier this year on the SOSU photoshoot for the spring/summer collection. I was so impressed with her work that I booked her to do my makeup for the SOSU launch.

Michelle is ex-Inglot, a brand of which I have long been a huge fan, and even though she is based in Dundrum, she does travel for bookings such as weddings. Her makeup is flawless and her blending skills are literally second to none. When she’s finished, you don’t even look like you’re wearing any makeup, you just look like you have unbelievably beautiful skin!

download (7)

I don’t know how she does it, but her work has serious staying-power too!

Following my SOSU launch party, I went out all night and when I got back to the hotel, I was so wrecked I fell asleep with my makeup on (something I NEVER do!) When I woke up however, the makeup was still perfect. You would never have guessed I had fallen asleep with it on!

I can’t recommend Michelle highly enough. Here’s her Instagram @Shelmonty

3.  Fiona Hogan

download

Remember the fab campaign I fronted last Christmas for Lilycoo? Well Fiona was the makeup artist on that shoot and I loved her work so much, I booked her to do my makeup for the launch of my second book, ‘SoSueMe – What Happened Next’.

Since then I have worked with Fiona on lots of shoots and projects, and I have always been left seriously impressed by her work. I love working with people who know their trade inside out and Fiona is definitely one of those people.

She creates the most stunning eye makeup (when you take a lot at her Instagram pics, you’ll see what I mean!) and her foundation application is always super flawless. Fiona is based in Liffey Valley where she’s on the pro team for Inglot, and as anyone who has been her client will confirm, she always brings her A-game.

Here’s Fiona’s Instagram @fionahogan_

4. Victoria Maloney

download (1)

As you guys already know, I’m a regular at the Red Velvet Hair & Beauty Salon in Ballyboughal. Jane takes care of my hair for big events, and if I need my makeup done as well, I usually book Victoria. Her work is stunning and she always manages to create such a beautiful soft and dewy look, exactly the kind I like.

Victoria is ex-MAC so you know you’re in great hands. She also uses lots of MAC products too. She is a seriously good makeup artist and definitely worthy of a place on this list.

I work with new makeup artists all the time but I have gone back to Victoria time and time again. The last event I booked her for was the Miss Ireland competition, and I know from reading your comments that you all absolutely loved the makeup look she created.

To see more of Victoria’s work, just check out her Facebook page, MakeUpByVictoriaMUA

5. Paula Callan

download (6)

Paula Callan is, in my opinion, Ireland’s leading makeup artist. No doubt about it.

Her talent is actually out of this world. She has worked on major international celebrities such as Heidi Klum, Elle Macpherson, Helena Christiansen, Yasmin le Bon and Sophie Dahl. She has also worked backstage at major fashion shows in London, Milan, Paris and New York.

I myself have been lucky enough to have worked with Paula on several occasions, most recently on a photoshoot for my latest SOSU product which will be coming out in November. (I can’t reveal any details about the product just yet but I promise I will soon!) Wait until you guys see the looks she created for that campaign! You will LOVE them!

Paula is based in Dublin but she travels all over for bookings. She and Derrick Carberry also joined forces to form the mega-successful Callanberry and through this business they hold a range of makeup courses. You can find out more about their courses on their website.

Next week, we’re going to name the top 5 fashion stylists.

Hi everyone!

I hope you’re all well! :)

Is anyone else super excited about Halloween or is it just me?! I’ve been invited to two different fancy dress parties and I’ve spent the week scanning the internet for fun and clever costume ideas. Every year I promise myself that I’ll plan my costume well in advance, and it’s always a last-minute panic! So if you have any good ideas, please send them my way!

This week’s recipe for roast carrots drizzled with tangy lime-tahini dressing, is so simple, but absolutely packed with goodness. Every autumn without fail, my appreciation for roasted root veggies is reignited, and I absolutely love the sweet, warming flavour of roasted carrots. They make a brilliant accompaniment to any meal, or you could do what I do, and dip them whole into hummus or guacamole as a yummy and healthy snack!

Healthy eating quote

Carrots are a brilliant source of beta-carotene, which gives them that distinctive orange colour. This nutrient converts to vitamin A within the body, with the help of dietary fat, which is why I paired the carrots with the tahini dressing. Vitamin A is crucial for healthy, clear skin and good eyesight, and an important nutrient to eat in sufficient amounts over the winter months.

I whipped up the lime tahini dressing in just a minute or two as the carrots were in the oven, and it tasted deliciously cool and creamy against the veggies. It actually works really well as a salad dressing made from very natural ingredients, as many store-bought dressings can contain a lot of sugar and salt.

Add these carrots to your Sunday roast over the weekend for an extra dose of nutrients!

Have a brilliant week and speak to you next week 😉

How to make Roasted Carrots with Tangy Lime-Tahini Dressing

(Serves 2)

P1100850

Ingredients:

Coconut oil, to grease

6 whole carrots, topped, tailed and peeled

1 tbsp light tahini (sesame seed paste)

1 tbsp fresh lime juice

2 tbsp unsweetened almond milk

1 tsp apple cider vinegar

1/2 a tsp smoked paprika

Pinch of salt and pepper, to taste

Instructions:

Preheat the oven to 200C and lightly grease a baking tray with coconut oil or lay down a sheet of greaseproof paper.

Place the peeled carrots in the oven and roast for 20-25 minutes at 200C, until they begin to turn lightly golden-brown.

As the carrots roast, place the tahini in a small bowl and add the lime juice, almond milk, apple cider vinegar, smoked paprika and seasoning. Mix it well until it forms a salad dressing consistency.

Remove the carrots from the oven, drizzle on the dressing and serve warm.

Any leftovers can be stored in an airtight container in the fridge for up to three days.

Hi guys, another new month… time is FLYING! Hello October – my birthday month 😉

As you all know, each month I like to look back on my favourite products I have been using and loving. This month, I am a little late – but hey better late, than never! My faves range from skincare right through to hair – so something in there for everyone.

Hope you enjoy! x

1. YSL Lippy

ysl lipstick

Up first – THIS YSL Rouge L’Orange lippy . Just wow. Granted, it’s a little more expensive than the lipsticks I general recommend, but my God is it so worth it. Hydrating, long lasting, instant colour pigment  = WIN! It is also quite possibly the nicest red/orange shade I have ever used.

You can read my full review of it here.

2. L’Occitane Creme Divine Moisturiser

l'occitane creme divine

I just started using this last month and wow. I had just run out of my usual Juliette Armand Moisturiser so I tried this Divine Cream by L’Occitane and I fell head over heels in love. No wonder it’s called Divine!

Just so you can get an idea of what it’s like to apply, it’s a really rich moisturiser that smells absolutely beautiful too. I read that it was voted the Best Miracle Cream last year and now that I have used it myself I can totally see why!

Dry / dehydrated skin is a problem for me, but this cream left it feeling so soft and hydrated. Major thumbs up!

3. Colour Wow Root Cover Up

wow hair toucj up

I’ve been using Colour Wow for a year or two now but I decided to include it in this particular post because people had been asking me about it lately after I used it during some photo-shoots.

Being so dark, I usually need to get my roots done every 8 weeks or so.

If I’m busy and don’t have time to get to the salon however, I use Colour Wow in the shade ‘dark brown’ to cover up those annoying root greys. It’s been my go-to product for root touch ups for ages now, and it’s so handy to use too. It comes with a little brush so all you have to do is just paint it on and you’re good to go!

All my aunties went grey quite young and it’s something I appear to have too, so for me, something like Colour Wow is a necessity! You have to check it out. Most salons have it including Cowboys and Angels and Ceira Lambert.

4. Roger & Gallet Bois d’Orange Perfume

roger gallet fragrance

I have always loved expensive perfumes, but I prefer not wearing them during the day when I’m working – it’s a total waste – I prefer to save them for night time events and special occasions. As a result I have been carrying around this Roger & Gallet cologne for general day-to-day wear and I LOVE it.

I love this particular scent because it reminds me of a summer holiday in Spain when I was a kid – the ultimate cologne. It’s quite strong and it lasts ages.

You can get it in most McCabes Pharmacies.

5. Cocoa Brown Instant Bronzing Gel

cocoa brown tan

Recently, Cocoa Brown’s Marissa Carter invited a select few bloggers along to a dinner last month where she revealed her brand’s two new instant bronzing gels in matte and shimmer. They’re wash-off tans and I have been using the shimmer one lately whenever I need an extra colour boost on my arms and chest. It has such a lovely golden colour and it smells DIVINE!

The shimmer in it is so beautiful. It’s hands down the most sparkling shimmer I have ever seen in a tan. It can be found in Penney’s and it’s so affordable too!

Definitely a must-have for me and for €6.99 – you cant go wrong really, can you!

So there you have it guys, my September favourites!

What were yours?

Matthew Knowles, father of Beyoncé and manager of Destiny’s Child, has announced that tickets are now on sale for his next one-day music industry bootcamp ‘The Entertainment Industry – How Do I Get In?’, which will be taking place on October 24 in Houston Texas.

General bootcamp admission costs $199, however those who wish to also have lunch and a photo with Matthew can expect to pay $299 for their ticket.

The bootcamp isn’t just for performers either. According to the event website, it’s for “aspiring composers, writers, producers, managers, publicists, attorneys, business managers and all other entertainment industry hopefuls!”

The bootcamp will include a presentation from Matthew in which he talks about his years managing Destiny’s Child and offers first hand advice to those who want to follow in the footsteps of his starlet daughter.

There will also be a panel of 6 successful industry figures on stage to give blunt advice on how to break into the industry. Following the event, all attendees receive a certificate of completion and Knowles reference booklet of industry definitions, contacts and additional useful information.

Having read reviews of the bootcamp, the 500 attendees can expect to hear A LOT about Beyoncé and Destiny’s Child.

The event will no doubt further annoy Beyoncé, especially as the singer already has a tumultuous relationship with her father.

Just last year, it was revealed that Matthew had held a yard sale in a bid to offload Destiny’s Child memorabilia as well as mementos from the early days of Beyoncé’s career. Solange’s albums were also said to have been on sale there for less than $2. News also emerged around that time of his hopes to obtain the rights to a Destiny’s Child movie.

Matthew may not be Beyoncé’s manager any more, but he is certainly making a career out of being her dad!

As most of you already know, I absolutely love boots!

For me one of the few advantages to the cold Irish winters is the excuse to buy new booties!

I firmly believe you should invest in good quality boots because in my experience, a good quality investment will reward you with longevity, but sometimes, a bargain is too good to ignore! So, after seeing so many ridiculously affordable boots online, I decided to put together a post about my top 5 under €50!

Dylan and I sometimes take Coco and Harper out around Malahide Castle on a Sunday, so now that the winter months are kicking in, I’ve been on the lookout for a stylish pair of casual flat boots that I can wear when we head out for a walk.

These would be perfect to wear under my Molly jeggings, (which are also really comfortable to wear when going for a stroll!) and at €34, you can’t go wrong.

 €24.99 – buy here

2.

f1600031_1

Ok so yes these are €13 more than our €50 price tag but OMG – I had to include them! Aren’t they fab. I think the gold heel makes them, and for a dressy lunch or dinner, these would be perfect!

€63 – buy here

3.

The tassel detail won me over instantly. They are so stylish but still dressy at the same time. Want!

€50 – buy here

4.

These look like they would be soo comfortable to throw on when going to the cinema or heading out for an evening walk. The zip detail is also pretty eye-catching too. I would totally wear these under a pair of skinnies.

€49 – buy here

Plain black boot. Can’t go wrong!

If you only buy one piece of footwear this winter, it should definitely be a black boot.

€49 – buy here

Happy Shopping!
