Hacker Steals Nude Photos From Loads Of Celebs

Jennifer-Lawrence-Golden-Globes-Awards-2014-3

First off, can we all stop saying that the person responsible for this invasion of privacy has “leaked” these pictures? Taking something from someone else without their permission is stealing, plain and simple. For those of you unfamiliar with the story, yesterday the internet was awash with nude pictures of Jennifer Lawrence and Kate Upton, among others.

A hacker claimed responsibility, saying he had breached their respective iCloud accounts, and further claiming that he has access to a load of other celebs photos, like Kim Kardashian, Rihanna, Michelle Keegan and Kelly Brook. In all the list of people is more than 100 prominent names from the movie, music & entertainment industries.

The pictures are a shocking violation of privacy, and are sure to be very very hurtful to all those affected. Actress Mary Elizabeth Winstead was one of those who had intimate pictures posted yesterday and took to twitter to slam the incident.

“To those of you looking at photos I took with my husband years ago in the privacy of our home, hope you feel great about yourselves. Knowing those photos were deleted long ago, I can only imagine the creepy effort that went into this. Feeling for everyone who got hacked.”

Meanwhile, Jennifer Lawrence’s publicist has confirmed the more than 40 pictures of her released are real and has said that anyone posting or sharing pictures of the actress is leaving themselves open to be prosecuted.

We can’t imagine what it must be like not only having to deal with paparazzi on a daily basis intruding on your life, but there’s no one who would deny this is a step too far, and we can only hope that the hacker is caught and punished accordingly, before others decide to follow suit. It’s easy to forget sometimes that celebs are people too and share many of the same insecurities and vulnerabilities that we share. No one should have to deal with the hurt or embarrassment that photos like these could cause when they’re put on display for the world to see.
