Agony Aunt: Ask Sue – Your Questions Answered!

Q: Hi Sue, Love your blog, it’s fabulous, as a new mom it is hard to keep on top of the latest trends etc but with your help, I feel somewhat still connected to the outside world. I wanted to ask you about supplements!  After my baby was born, hair around my hairline fell out.. my hairdresser has suggested a supplement? I guess like Perfectil, Imodeen etc, but which one?

I have looked around the web and cannot really find any reviews and wondered if you had ever reviewed or used these products, any help really welcome, thanks a million! Lisa x

A: Hey Lisa, great to hear SoSueMe keeps you on top with fashion trends and congrats on your new bundle of joy. To be honest, I have never really ‘reviewed’ supplements as such and I don’t want to tell you to try something and then it doesn’t work for you.But what I will tell you to get and trial is the latest supplement I have been hearing GREAT reports about – would you believe it’s TESCO Hair, Nail and Skin multivitamins and minerals.

Apparently this stuff is amazing – your hair grows faster and even your lashes grow fuller? Your skin is left glowing and your nails strong. Every time I’m in Tesco’s – this supplement is GONE.. sold out! They get a new batch in every now and then, so if you can get in on time- stock up, it seems it’s available online at the mo! For €4.00 – you cant go wrong! Click HERE to buy online. Hope this answers your question! Sue xx

Q: Hey Sue, Just wondering if you could recommend a mascara?! I’m using max factor- false lash effect at the mo and finding its not working as well as it used to. I have long eyelashes so just wondering if you’ve used any lately that you found were good :) Jane.

A: Hey Jane,  my fav two at the moment are Soap and glory’s ’Thick & Fast Mascara” (Pic below)’, its brilliant and Eyeko!

The Soap and Glory one is really affordable and it makes your lashes thick and long! The good thing is about this mascara too is – it has quite a chunky brush and I love chunky brushes because they put lots of product on the lashes. This mascara also lasts ages and it doesn’t dry up as quick as the others! I would say give this a go!! You can get this in Boots, think it’s €10?

Another mascara I tried and LOVED is the Eyeko Mascara from London! This mascara gives you doll-like lashes for BIG EYES. The multi-action brush with tiered bristle clusters is designed to plump, define and curl lashes.

Hope this helps you – and let me know if you try either of these!

Q: Hi Sue, I absolutely love your blog, and check it almost everyday even though I live in Stockholm,Sweden. I saw that you can answer some questions regarding styling and just advice in general which is fantastic! Your own sense of style is so flattering, and unique! I have a few questions about two dresses I have just bought whilst online shopping, and would really really love if you could give me a few ideas with what kind of make up would suit both dresses along with hair and accessories.I have amber eyes, long dark brown wavy hair and a light tan.

( The black dress is cut out on the sides and is a jersey dress )

( The pink/reddish dress is a mid high-low chiffon dress )

Thank you so much for reading this!

Your Dedicated reader.

A: Hi Amber, First off – I love the black dress, it’s very me too! The pink is cute, very girl-next-door!

For the black dress, I would wear my hair in the messy top knot (pic below) and I would go really boho with this look. So a smokey eye and a nude lip. For accessories, I would put lots of bracelets together on one arm (pic below) and a large ring on your first finger. Keep it effortless looking.  Another look I would go with would be a bowler hat and beacy hair too? Try either of these looks – both look great with a black fitted maxi. Good choice!

For the pink dress, my style wouldn’t be very girlie, so I would instantly funk this up, little black ankle boots, a black belt around the waist line with a cool bowler hat. I would also drape lots of cross necklaces over this. For night time – you could wear this with cool, wedges, matching belt and lots of accessories, like chunky chain and bangle! Pic below.

Hope this helps! Happy shopping! xx

Q: Hey Sue, I love ur blog and follow every day ;)

My fiancé and I are heading to the foto island resort for two nights and an animal park –  but I’m at my wits end I have so many new clothes but don’t really know whats a good idea to bring with me …. Please help ;) !!!
Thanks a million, Marie xxx

A: Hey Marie, Ok, so basically what you are saying is, this is going to be a pretty causal trip but then again you are staying in a 5 star hotel, so you cant be roaming around looking like a knacker! ha. Pack one pair or two of skinny jeans, Pack a pair or two of fitted chinos and a maxi. With the jeans and chinos you can wear cool T-shirts and large/baggy jumpers – giving you that effortless look but still classy, pack a shirt or two – you can wear them as well fully buttoned to the neck with an over-sized cardy or jumper. Maybe just bring a pair of flat ankle boots with you- they go with everything and a hat? Would you wear a hat? I love them for instantly making an outfit look stylish. Does this help you? Cheers,

Sue xx

Q: Hey Sue – HELP! I keep buying clothes I never wear !! I love colour,  not pattern though, can u advise me and a few items to buy. Also want to invest in a pair of jeans that have some give, not hipsters. Like the skinnys!! Orla xxxx

A: Hey Orla, every girl should have her top 10 wardrobe staples! Here are mine – Click HERE to read them! Invest in them and you will never have an UGH day! Hope this helps, Sue xx

Q: Recently found your website and I’m officially hooked!! Its brilliant! My question is skin related. On shows like X-factor all the girls chest area and arms look so polished, almost plastic looking and I was wondering what is used on their skin to give that flawless finish?

A: Well first off these celebs have beauty experts are their beck and call – so don’t beat yourself.

To get nice polished looking skin, the key is a good exfoliation!! Exfoliating at home is effective, but sometimes you want to indulge in a professional treatment. In the same way a professional facial can leave your face glowing and fresh, a professional exfoliating treatment, or body polish, can leave your whole body smooth, soft, and vibrant. A body polish removes the surface layer of dead cells that can make your skin look dull or rough. The polish exposes the fresh, healthy skin. So I would suggest trying out a body polish in your local beauty salon. After this moisturise every day, even start using the Roger & Gallet Body Oil- I’m a massive fan,  read about it HERE.

After that, if you are heading out – always use a body glitter/light reflecting product – I love the Benefit Hollywood glow!! Its amazing for giving you that glowy polished look! (Pic below)

Hope this helps! Enjoy your new polished look! :) Sue xx

Hi Sue, have been reading your blog for ages now & absolutely love it! Have you any advice when it comes to wearing backless dresses/bodysuits without a bra? I love the backless look but as I have a very small chest I haven’t been brave enough to wear it yet.. Noticed that you wear a lot of backless dresses and I’d love to be able to pull them (& deep v necked bodysuits) off without looking totally flat chested! Any advice would be great :) Amy B x

Hi Amy, I LOVE backless pieces, I think they are so elegant. If you are wearing a backless piece, then you need stick on boobs! I got mine in Penneys and they are GREAT! Best thing ever! Think they were only like €5 or something and I always use mine. Now for the V neck tops/dresses.. read on….

If you are wearing a deep V-Neck – there isnt a lot you can do here to create cleavage apart from highlighting and shading to create the illusion of bigger boobs- sorry lads- yes we really do this!! ha!! You can use makeup to create more pronounced cleavage. Apply dark shades to areas of your cleavage where shadows should fall, and light shades to areas of your bust that should be highlighted.

Here Is  How To It:

1. Select a dark bronzer or blush. Look for a bronzer one shade darker than your skin tone. This will create the illusion of shadows while still looking natural.

2. Apply the bronzer along the sides of your cleavage. Use a brush to avoid creating streaks. Brush on the bronzer, starting at the cleavage line and ending at the point where the strap of the bra meets the cup. Repeat for both sides.
Apply the bronzer between your breasts. Blend it in with your natural skin tone, creating a “V”-shaped shadow in the process.

3. Select a light, natural color eye shadow or face powder. Look for a powder one shade lighter than your natural skin tone. Apply the powder to the visible portion of your breasts using a brush!! This highlights the roundness of the breast, giving it a fuller appearance.

4. Alternatively, select a shimmery glitter. Choose a body dust, lightly apply the glitter to the visible portion of your breasts. The glitter will create a fuller area!

Do you have aaaany idea where I could get a cheap one before Friday?

Yes, try Penneys and Dunnes! I saw a lovely one in Penneys only the other day!! if all else fails – get into TK Max. They have the best bags!! Enjoy the wedding! Sue xx

Hey Sue, Ive spoken to you once or twice on twitter but I just want to ask you a quick question and would love some advice! I often get told that I should go into modelling that I have the height and the figure but I don’t know how to go about it. How did you get into modelling? What do you think I should do? Any advice Would be greatly appreciated! Thank you :-) Naomi x

Hi Naomi,

I actually got into modelling after a photographer that was shooting for an O2 campaign spotted me on the street one day, a week later I was all over billboards, bus stops and on buses in the UK and Ireland. It was amazing! But now a days – It’s a lot harder as every girl wants to be a model. If I were you, I would DEFINITELY check out The AndreaRocheModel Bootcamps- I’ve heard amazing things from them! On the day you get to do a shoot, Ireland’s top models are there to talk to you about modelling, explaining what it’s all about. You also learn how to walk and you get to experience the day in the life of a model! Its a fabulous experience  – so get in touch!!

Read my blog post HERE about the Andrea Roche model boot camps!

Let me know if you decide to do it, I will be there on the day with AndreaRocheTV. :)
