Brad Pitt was struck in the face yesterday as he signed autographs for fans, by an infamous red carpet prankster. The incident happened at the premiere of Angelina Jolie’s new movie Maleficent (read our review here).
Vitalii Sediuk, a Ukrainian tv reporter, leaped over a fence and hit Brad Pitt in the face according to a Los Angeles Police Department spokesman. Pitt was not seriously hurt and authorities quickly subdued Sediuk, who was arrested and remained in police custody last night where he was being held on $20,000 bail.
Sediuk has often pulled stupid stunts such as this one on other celebrities at red carpet events, which begs the question why he keeps being given a press pass to attend. In previous exploits he has stormed the stage during Adele’s Grammy acceptance speech, hugged Leonardo DiCaprio’s crotch at a film festival event, and probably most famously been slapped by Will Smith after kissing the actor at a Moscow premiere.
One can only hope this is the last time he is let get away with his antics, as he poses a danger for other, genuine foreign bloggers and critics being allowed access to events such as these.
