Cheryl Cole returns to the X Factor!

Cheryl Cole is finally back at X Factor, however, she isn’t returning to her old position as judge, instead she’s assisting Gary Barlow at the ‘judges houses’ stage of the show, which decides what acts will make it through to the live shows.

Gary (41) wanted to keep Cheryl’s return under raps, and had people under the impression that Robbie WIlliams would be his assisting mentor this year, just like he was last year.

Gary wasn’t even planning to tell Simon or TV bosses, until Cheryl actually showed up at filming, for judges houses, as an X Factor source told The Sun newspaper;

‘Only Gary’s intimate inner circle know. He hasn’t even discussed it with Simon or ITV bosses. It’s been seriously top secret stuff. They’re all under the impression it’s going to be Robbie. No one even noticed the dates for the recording clashed with Robbie’s new solo tour.’

Obviously Gary’s hopes for Cheryl’s return to be a secret have been shattered, however, he actually saw the funny side of things as he tweeted;

@CherylCole just so we don’t clash, I’m wearing the pink suit with the red shoes ;)

Even Simon took to twitter in the early hours of this morning to welcome Cheryl, as he tweeted;

Welcome back Cheryl. X

In an interview with Cheryl, Jonathon Ross asked her about her relationship with Simon, after the whole US X Factor sacking, and Cheryl revealed,  how they’re on talking terms, but that’s as far as it goes;

‘I do talk to him every now and again. We’re frenemies.’
Cheryl Cole, isn’t the only former judge to be making their X Factor come back as Sharon Osbourne has made a return to help Louis mentor his final six acts in Las Vegas.

Tulisa chose Tinie Tempah to help her mentor her acts at judges’ houses, whilst Nicole Scherzinger chose Ne-Yo to help her decide which of her final six acts will make it to the live shows, starting later this year.

JUDGES CATEGORIES:

Gary Barlow: Over 25s
Tulisa: Girls
Nicole Scherzinger: Boys
Louis Walsh: Groups
