EXCLUSIVE INTERVIEW WITH FASHION STYLIST LISA FITZPATRICK!
So Sue Me chats with Lisa Fitzpatrick- one of Ireland’s Top Fashion Stylists and TV Presenters!
A familiar face on both TV3 and RTE television shows and indeed an established voice on countless radio shows, So Sue Me is very fond of this style guru!
Lisa has worked with numerous famous faces such as Rosanna Davison, the former Miss World. Lisa literally chose all of Rosanna’s outfits for that entire competition which was yet a further testament to Lisa’s success and talent; proving indeed, that Lisa’s opinion, within the industry is highly regarded.
With such success achieved and a ray of experience that one can only dream of, it is to no surprise that Lisa decided to write her own book this year: Enjoying Style and Fashion which she launched two weeks ago. Lisa’s book features tips on a wide range of topics- dressing for the big occasion, make-up, hair, body shapes, everyday style, weddings and many more. This book is definitely a style bible every girl should own!
So Sue Me caught up with Lisa Fitzpatrick this week to get an insight into the life of a much sought after stylist and author.
Describe your life in three words:
1.Busy
2.Fun
3.Challenging being a mum
You have just launched your very own book: ‘Enjoying Style and Fashion’, how does that feel?
Honestly amazing, I am like a child! I have gone to Easons Dundrum five times, they probably think I’m odd but I’m just hyped…..!!
What should people expect from the book?
My personal journey, experiences, advice, tips from experts, great interviews with positive people and some great photos for flicking through. It was always for me going to be a little bit of everything. I loved doing it and I listened the customers, viewers, Irish women and hopefully I covered it all!
How did you get your first break into media?
I did Ireland AM once when Debbie O’ Donnell was producer, it was my first time on TV and I must say, like Alan Hughes- when that camera rolls I light up and feel very happy, it’s the same when I’m on stage or radio. Shame I don’t have a signing voice there really would be no stopping me (laughs)! I love it, thank god Victoria O’ Brien the producer invites me on as I just love it. Tv3 are a great team, lots of good energy in the studio, its just people who love what they do and get on and do it!
You’re an author, stylist, and a mother, where do you get the time to fit everything in?
I’m a mother first so everything comes after that. I fit everything in before I collect the children and sometimes I don’t- but the mums at school are very supportive and really help me out when I’m stuck!
Who is your idol?
My mother, husband and kids
What’s the most important gift in life?
Friendships
Favourite Quote?
“Fashion has become too sophisticated, too serious, lighten up! You should enjoy it like a good wine”~ John Galliano
Describe your style?
- Day time & when off work- PJ’s from Penneys.
- Out for dinner- The little black dress never lets me down.
- School run- Cosy.
- Relaxing with friends or a night in – Jeans & Jumper.
I never try on clothes in a shop- I know what works! If I buy something and don’t wear it within a week or two, I will always exchange it and put it down to an impulse buy or a mistake.
Who’s your favourite designer?
I love working with Bastyan in BT’s as the clothes suit my age, shape and lifestyle. They take me from work, to the school run to fab dinner dates with the hubby. I love the way the collection is so versatile- my tux jacket looks great with skinnies with formal with classic trousers and silk shirt.
And your top high street stores?
For high Street it has to be River Island and Zara.
What are your ultimate ‘style essentials’ that you could never live without?
Black dress, denims, blazer, white shirt and oversize bags that carry everything – kids toys, markers, pens.
Who is the most famous person you have ever met/interviewed?
I interviewed Erin O’Conor (top model) for my book. Erin is so bright, funny, charming, such an incredible girl.
I also met Elton John and I couldn’t even speak, I love his music I’ve always listened to his songs. I just shook his hand and smiled; thankfully my husband made up for me and chatted to him while I just continued to smile. I’m raging I didn’t tell him how talented he is. How do the Xpose girls do it? If I was interviewing Colin Firth- I would just say nothing or go red or just tell him I fancy him!

Hopefully a better year for everyone
