The recent publication of The Sunday Times annual Rich List shows a huge growth amongst lots of movers and shakers in the fashion industry. Nobody in any industry worth less than £85 million made it onto the list of the top 1,000 wealthiest people in Britain, so claiming a spot was no mean feat!
Top of the fashion rich list at a staggering £7.3 billion were the Weston family, who control brands like Selfridges and Primark. Owners of brands like Topshop, Miss Selfridge, Dorothy Perkins, New Look, Monsoon, Mulberry and River Island, topped the poll. The Beckham’s combined fortune is said to have risen by £10 million this year to £210 million thanks to Victoria’s successful fashion label, but that’s small change when compared to the fashion heavy hitters like Arcadia’s Philip Green who is worth £3.88 billion. Arcadia owns Topshop and a host of popular high street brands.
