Tassels: The Return Of Luxury Trimmings

Sometimes a little detail is all it takes to change the feel of a garment! In Spring 2011 one of the most popular trimmings is one that signifies luxury- Tassels! Adorning everything from handbags to shoes to dresses and hats- Tassels is where its at this season and expect this trimming to be HUGE in 2011

While it’s been a constant to see the odd, small tassel on leather accessories like handbags and purses, we’re now seeing them prominently - over-sized, extra long, brightly coloured or made to stand out in some way. And it’s no longer just handbags: for spring 2011 they’re on everything from shoes to dresses to belts and hats.

Ropes and Tassels

Ropes and tassels are natural companions, so it follows that we’re seeing plenty of ropes being incorporated into both clothing and accessories. Rope detailing can either be very luxurious and exotic (see Gucci, below) or more to the nautical side, for example wedges or espadrilles with rope ties.

So there you have it girls and guys- TASSELS are going to be big in this Spring/Summer 2011- so hit your grannies house & her old furniture or better yet- try the fabric/curtain shops for some tassel purchasing! Add them to your clothes yourself- its all about DIY this year!
