5 Things You Don’t Know About Me

Sue 09

Hi everyone!

I wanted to kick off the new site with a personal post.

I hope you like the new design/template? I’m really happy with it and I love the simplicity of it.

If you want to find out more about my new design choice and content change, check out my welcome post here.

Recently my friends and I were chatting about how social media and how much of our lives is online, and as the convo progressed, one of the group asked me if there was anything people didn’t know about me and this really got me thinking!

I thought it would be fun to do a lighthearted post in which I shared some things that you might not know, but might find interesting or funny.

So here it goes….

1. I worked in McDonalds!

…. but I only lasted one day. I’ll explain why.

When I was 18, I had just received my Leaving Cert results so I went away with my friends for 6 weeks to work in Spain.

When I returned however, I was so broke, that I had to find a part-time job straight away as I was just about to start college and I was going to need funds, let alone some cash to pay back the bills I had racked with heading away. So anyway, when I read McDonalds were hiring, I applied for the a job.

On my trial day, after about two hours of trying to grasp the till system, truth be told, I just couldn’t get to grips with it and at this point, the manager was getting so annoyed with me that she instead took me off the tills and had me stand by the door handing out balloons.

I think the nerves of starting a new job combined with the frustration of not being able to manage the tills had me nearly in tears and in a moment of upset, I decided it wasn’t for me. I finished the day, picked up my bag, left and never returned.

At the time I was so embarrassed that I couldn’t figure out how to use their till but now I look back and realise it was minor set back that I shouldn’t have allowed to upset me at the time.

We all have skills and strengths in different areas.

And not being able to manage a weird till system hasn’t stopped me from running my own businesses!

2. I ate coal as a kid!

sosueme cruise

Ok, even I will admit that this is a weird one! When I was kid, my mam and dad used to always catch me eating coal. Yes, actual coal! (I think a few kids who were born in the 80’s did this too. Come on, hands up! 😉

My mam has about 15 pictures of me just sitting there eating coal, and for the life of me, I don’t know why I was so drawn to eating it!

Shortly after myself and Dylan started going out together, we were talking about things we used to do as kids and he said he used to eat …… COAL!!

What are the odds that we both did that as kids? We were definitely meant for each other! Haha!

3. I’m VERY superstitious

… like the worst! I don’t know why.

I just have such a connection to energies and how we use our minds, that I have this belief or understanding that maybe, just maybe, superstitions are true.

There are many but my main ones are: I won’t walk under a ladder, I will always salute a magpie, and if I spill salt, I will always throw some over my shoulder!

I have always been, and probably always will be, extremely superstitious!

4. I’m a control freak

This can be viewed as a good thing or a bad thing.

With my SOSUbySJ business, my blog and pretty much everything I do professionally, I need to be at the forefront and in full control.

I do find it hard to delegate, however over the last 12 months, as I expanded the team and had to start delegating more and more. I realised soon after that growing your team is paramount for continued growth, and on the flip side, I’ve also learnt Rome wasn’t built in a day.

I suppose another consequence of being a control freak is that I won’t settle or sleep until everything is done right. A perfectionist some will say.

5. I love a King Crisp sandwich and a cup of tea

I know most Irish people love this combo but I can’t live without a King Crisp sandwich and a cup of tea.

It’s my comfort meal. Sick, cup of tea and a sambo! Hungry? Cup of tea and a sambo. A late night snack? A sure cup of tea and a sambo. There’s a lot to be said for them 🙂

Ohhh another thing? I  make a kick ass toastie too! Although, that probably stems from my single days when I lived on my own in town and the only food I had in the apartment were ham, cheese and bread!

There you have it guys, 5 things you didn’t know about me! This is the kind of personal post I want to do more regularly going forward so I hope you enjoyed it and found it funny!
