Exclusive Interview With Charlotte O’Connor

Today we are treating you to an exclusive interview with the beautiful singer song writer Charlotte O Connor. We caught up with her to chat about music fashion and Lana Del Rey:

Can you describe your sound in a few words?

I’d say: honest, acoustic, soul

What was it that first made you realise that you wanted to get into music?

When I went to go and watch Alicia keys, it was the first gig I ever went to…. just watching her made me think… wow…that’s what I’m meant to be doing!

Just recently you did a cover of Lana Del Rey Video games, what made you want to pick that song?

I literally decided on stage that I was going to do it, a complete spur of the moment! I had never done it before I just felt like trying it and seeing if people liked it. It was pretty nerve racking but everybody seemed to dig it.

Is Lana Del Rey someone you would like to work with? Her music is very chilled out and calming like yours too!

I love her album…. it’s actually helped me through some rubbish times,there’s a song called “Radio” on there and it’s just wicked. I’d love to write with her.

What is your favourite song to perform live?

At the moment it’s a song called Cafe Latino that I recently wrote… I completely leave the Earth whenever I sing it,it’s definitely one of my favourites that I’ve done.

You released your debut album “For Kenny” can you tell us a little about it?

For Kenny is a real feel good album it’s full of songs I wrote when I was 16-18 …and yeah it’s basically my childhood in an album, it’s very honest and romantic.

How did it feel to have you album released must have been a great sense of achievement. As the songs are very beautifully performed and written?

It feels great…there is still so much more work to do but the fact I can say “I’ve released an album” is just insane! I’m mega chuffed.

You also have a new single coming out too, care to tell us a little about the song Addicted?

Addicted is a song I wrote about liking somebody but not wanting to like them, as it’s just screaming NO from all angles! But you can’t help how you feel.

You’re planning on playing some gigs & festivals soon what are ones that you are most excited to?

All of them really …but I think beach break will be a goodun.

What are the big plans for you in 2012?

I’m writing new material at the moment that I’m really really excited about …so a new EP will be released at some point this year….and just loads of gigs.
