Monday again…where did the weekend go? Is it just me or is this year flying by?
At least summer is getting closer and I’m loving the brighter evenings of late. So today I’m here to chat about lippys.
Last week, I was over in the UK for SOSU meetings and before my flight I dropped into The Loop in Dublin Airport where I bought 3 M.A.C lipsticks that I have been trying to pick up for ages now. They’re always sold out, but this time I managed to nab them.
While I was on the plane waiting to take off, I took a picture of them and posted it to snapchat. By the end of the day, the picture had about 1,500 screen grabs and so I figured I would do a blog on each of them showing you the shades.
The three I went with are all perfect for summer! In fact, they’re perfect for any time of year really.
As you guys probably already know, I have long been a fan of the M.A.C lipsticks. They’re so creamy and long-lasting and in my opinion the brand definitely has one of the best lipstick formulations.
Usually I tend to go for bright colours but lately I have been hooked on nude shades; personally I blame Kylie Jenner for that one 😉
Over the past number of months I have had my makeup done by quite a lot of different makeup artists for events and workshops, and through these lovely ladies, I have been introduced to a number of new lip shades, 3 of which I have fallen head over heels in love with.
And here they are!
1. Kinda Sexy
This is a beautiful peach nude shade that is quite matte and looks really nice on regardless of whether you wear it for day or night.
In true M.A.C style, the pigment is also really long-lasting.
I especially love to wear this type of colour with a nice gold smokey eye. I find ‘Kinda Sexy’ is great for bringing a pop of colour to the lips while still keeping that nice nude undertone.

2. Velvet Teddy
This is a gorgeous mauve nude shade, and like Kinda Sexy, it’s also matte. Not surprisingly, it was one of M.A.C’s bestselling colours, not to mention a staple item in Kylie Jenner’s makeup bag until she brought out her own range of nude shades.
I think it’s more nude in tone than mauve and it looks fab when worn with a smokey eye, whether it’s a dramatic smokey look or a subtle nude/brown smokey style.

3. Faux
I can’t even swatch this lipstick for you because I ended up giving it to my sister Katie! She noticed it in my makeup bag at the workshop on Saturday and begged for it, so I gave in 🙂 I’ll pick it up again, I’m actually flying next week. So I’ll purchase it again.
While the other 2 I bought are more of a matte texture, Faux Satin Is a gorgeous creamy texture. This is more of a day time nude, though you could wear it on a night out if you were going for a very toned down nude lip. In my opinion, Faux Satin the fairest nude of the 3, but bear in mind it does photograph quite differently on various skin tones so it’s really one of those shades that you would have to try out for yourself to see if it suits.
As I said, I can’t swatch it for you, but trust me, it is a beautiful colour. I wore it at one of my workshops recently and a lot of people were asking me about it both in person and on social media.
In terms of lip liner, Nice n Spicey lip liner goes with all three lipsticks, as does whirl which I did manage to find a great dupe for!! It’s such a good dupe and you can see it here!
