FAKE IT: My Top 3 False Tan’s For The Face!

download (10)

Barely a day goes by without me being asked to recommend a false tan for the face. Up until recently, I never really wore tan on my face, simply because it would sometimes cause my skin to break out and on top of that – I also found that some face tans could be quite drying, so I used to just avoid tanning my face.

Recently however, I noticed in a couple of photographs that my neck was a different shade to my face. Maybe it’s a bit more noticeable because I have gone blonde, but either way, I decided to give face tanning one last chance! For my Sligo workshop, I applied some St Moriz mist tan to my face and not only was I really impressed by how it turned out, I was also very pleased to see that I didn’t break out afterwards!

As I said at the start, I get a lot of messages asking me for tan recommendations, so now that I’m back in the world of face tans, I decided to share the top 3 face tans that looked amazing when on, (and didn’t result in me breaking out!)

1. High end: Lancôme Flash Bronzer Face Tan

My mam used Flash Bronzer for years and I think it’s from her that I developed a love for it! Lancôme is a really reputable brand and the Flash Bronzer is without doubt one of the best tans on the market, especially for the face. I used to use the original Flash Bronzer but now they have one especially for the face. It’s not too orange, so you get a very natural result, and I also find that it doesn’t dry out my skin nor do I break out when I use it. It’s a little on the pricey side, but I think it’s good to invest when it comes to products for the face.

If you have been following my Snapchat (SoSueMe_ie) you will have spotted an unopened bottle of Flash Bronzer in my tanning drawer. I always have one to hand in case I want to tan my face because it’s one I can definitely rely on.

2. Mid range: Clinique Face Bronzing Gel

Another tanning gel that my mother passed used and I fell in love with. This is a really good face and body tanning gel, but I don’t think it would suit very fair-skinned girls as the pigment is quite dark, well on me anyway. (If you’re fair-skinned, I would say go for the Flash Bronzer instead.)

The tanning gel doesn’t leave a residue like some tans do, and it’s very ‘skin-friendly’ too so you’re not left with any dry patches or breakouts either.

3. Affordable: St Moriz Dark Mist/lotion

I know from past experiences that Clinique and Flash Bronzer are brilliant, but recently, St Moriz mist has caught my attention and it’s now a new favourite of mine!

The mist goes on so evenly, and there were absolutely no blotches.

When tanning the face, all you need to do is apply one spritz and then blend it into the face with a tanning mitt. Before tanning, I applied some moisturiser to my face so that the tan wouldn’t go too dark or patchy.

I can also report that I didn’t suffer any break outs or dry skin afterwards either so you can be sure I will be using this again. At just €6, talk about budget friendly too!
