Review: Mascara Magic | BEAUTY

suzanne jackson mascara

Hello ladies,

As you will know from my snapchat over the weekend, I decided to do my makeup in the car once we were on the road to Galway on Friday. While I was using one of my favourite products, it occurred to me that I had never shared it with you, so I decided sure hell with it, let’s do another NonSponsored product recommendation for my series – read more about this review series here.

If you’ve been following me for some time, you will know I am really particular about the type of mascara I like, use, and recommend.

You guys might remember the time I went to Paris Fashion Week with MAC and while I was there, they kindly gifted me some makeup to use on the trip. During the trip, I noticed that one of the MAC girls, Kayleigh, had the most amazing lashes so I asked her what mascara she was using. She told me it was MAC’s In Extreme Dimension Waterproof Mascara, and explained that I already had it back in the room as it was part of the gift they had left on my bed!

She told me that this mascara was her fave and that she too was always so particular about the type of mascara she used, and even thought she worked for the brand, she loved it like no other mascara she’d used before.

After seeing what it looked like on Kayleigh and hearing how much she loved it, I decided to try it out for myself that night. We were all heading out to dinner so when I was doing my makeup, I applied it and absolutely loved it from the second it was on!

I used it on and off for about two months after that but for the past few weeks, I have been using it constantly as I have to say, it really is a brilliant product!

Why I like it:MAC's In Extreme Dimension Waterproof Mascara pic 3

1 – As all mascara-lovers will know, a wand can make or break a mascara. If the wand isn’t right, it’s a big let-down. Fortunately the wand with this product is SO good! The mascara formula is distributed nicely among the lashes and it also really lifts and separates the lashes as well. The handle likewise is nice and easy to hold as it’s a little thinner towards the top.

2 – The mascara pigment is jet black! In fact, if there’s a darker shade of black than jet black, then this mascara has it! I love mascaras that are ‘black-black’, and one of the first things that struck me about this product was its deep colour pigment.

3 – It distributes a nice amount of product on the first application but if you like the doll-eyed effect, then you will be pleased to hear that it’s very buildable. I find I only need two coats to create the doll lash effect which is really good.

4 – It won’t give you a slight panda eye look shadow under the eyes at end of day. Some mascaras do this, but that’s not a problem with this.

5 – The lasting ability of this mascara is ten-out-of-ten. It stays on your lashes all day and won’t budge! The staying power is very impressive.

Tip:

Of course the flip side to using a mascara with a waterproof formula and excellent staying power is its removal! You will need to have a two phase eye makeup remover. I usually use the one from Penney’s or Nivea. A two phase remover is a mix of oil and water. Anything oil based is good for removing eye makeup, but a two phase remover will help eye makeup comes off in one or two swipes.

How do I use itMAC's In Extreme Dimension Waterproof Mascara review pic 1

I usually apply 2 coats. Some people like to zig-zag the wand though the lashes but I always just brush it up through the lashes. As I mentioned earlier, the wand really separates the lashes as well lifting and curling them.

I don’t have a lot of eyelashes (as you will see in the intro pic) but this particular mascara is so good at creating the illusion that I have eyelashes, well some when I’m not wearing my SOSUbySJ falsies!  It really does give that 3D effect it promises.

How much is it and where to get it:

The In Extreme Dimension Waterproof Mascara costs €22 and you can pick this up on the MAC website or at MAC counters nationwide.

Personal Disclaimer:

I was delighted to read on MAC’s website that they are spearheading the movement against animal testing. They state that they don’t test their products on animals. They have also partnered with the IIVS (Institute for In Vitro Sciences) to expand the use and acceptance of non-animal testing methods worldwide.

Have a great Sunday evening guys!

hi, so danielle is totally right in what she is saying about mac NOT being cruelty free. Mac is owned by estee lauder which test on animals and maybe mac dont test the finished product eg. mascara on puppies, rabbits, kittens etc. but the ingredients definitely get tested in their eyes. skin. etc… so suzanne perhaps you would like to amend and update your post regarding mac. thanks
