Short Hair Dont Care

suzanne jac

Hey everybody!

Happy Tuesday

Hope you’re all having a nice start to the week.

Today I’m blogging about my new short hair.  On Friday evening I popped into Jane in Red Velvet to get my colour done and while I was there,  we decided to chop my hair up another two inches.

This time last year, I could NEVER have envisioned myself cutting my hair up this short…but now that I have done it, I’m really loving it and how handy it is!

A lot of my favourite international fashion bloggers (Olivia Culpo/ Camilla Coelho) are all rocking super short hair at the moment and they look amazing, so I figured, “what the hell! Let’s go a bit shorter!”

Personally I find the style quite chic and classy.

I read a few comments on my social media from followers who said that lots of ladies tend to get their hair cut once their wed! I had genuinely never heard of that before so I found it really funny when I was reading about it, but hey maybe it’s true 🙂 Maybe we do it without even realising.

My own personal reason for my change is more of a reflection of where I’m at right now. I got married in August, turned 33 in October and I felt like this change of hairstyle is a little more mature looking but also slight more fitting with my personality and how I’m feeling about myself right now. I’m also loving how handy it is, getting ready has never been quicker ha.

I noticed in the comments section, lots of you are tempted to go for the chop, so if you’re considering it, there are a few tips I would offer before you bite the bullet…

1 – Don’t make any hasty decisions

Don’t spontaneously decide to have cut your hair cut up short when you’re sitting in the salon chair. Research the various styles first and make sure the style is right for your face shape. If you rush such a drastic decision, chances are you won’t be too happy with the outcome. I also did mine in stages. I slowly went shorter, and that was a great way of easing my way into it.

2 – Find inspiration

Scour the internet for hair inspirations. Save as many images as you can to your phone so your hairstylist knows what you have in mind. They will then tell you if they think it will suit you or what they would do differently to make it look even nicer. There are some websites that can even show you what you will look like with different styles so it might be worth having a look at them also.

3 – Don’t panic

It can sometimes take a while to adjust to a new hairstyle, so if you feel as though you have made the wrong decision in cutting your hair, don’t freak out. You may end up loving it once you get used to it. And if you don’t come around to it, well that’s what hair extensions are for!

4 – Invest in good hair volumising products

volume hair products

Since having my hair cut short, I’m absolutely loving how easy it is to manage but most of all, I love trying out really cool hair styling and volumising products. For me, the key to big short hair has been texture sprays and volumising mousses. I love getting to experiment with these so I have been trying out lots lately. At the moment, my favourites are:

Kevin.Murphy Anti Gravity Texture Spray

keving murphy spray

After towel drying my hair, I spritz this into the roots to help with volume. It’s very lightweight so it doesn’t weigh down the hair and it also adds a touch of shine.

Kevin.Murphy Doo.Over Dry Powder Finish Hairspray

doo over

This is my go-to product right now! It gives dry hair a ton of volume but it also sets the hair, so when you spray it at the root, it holds the hair in place so the volume stays longer.

AlfaParf Milano Diamond Cristalli Liquidi Serum

After I blow dry my hair, I then apply this through the ends. It gives my hair a shiny healthy look.

(As most of you probably know, I’m a sucker for products that smell nice, and this one smells just divine!)

Kevin.Murphy Bedroom Hair

This is a flexible texturing hairspray that this adds shine and creates that lived-in look. If you love the messy bed head kind of hair style, then this product will give you just that!

My Saturday Night Hair

As lots of you loved my hair on Saturday night, I thought I would let you in on how I created that style.

First, I washed my hair using an AlfaParf volumising shampoo and conditioner.

Next, I towel dried my hair and applied a few spritzes of Kevin.Murphy Anti Gravity Spray to the roots.

To then blow dry my hair, I used a really good rounded bristle brush (mine is the Ibiza hairbrush number 617) and my Lani Blo hairdryer.

Next I applied some AlfaParf Milano Diamond Cristalli Liquidi Serum to make my hair shiny & healthy looking and then I used the Kevin.Murphy Bedroom Hair because I wanted to create that messy live in, bedroom hair textured look.

So there you have it guys, the low down on my new short hair. Hope you enjoyed this post?

Have a great evening!

You are looking fabulous in these short hair. I have long hair and I am starting to hate it because it always weight down and I hate it…so I just invested to better products and can´t wait to have them and try them 🙂
