YOUR Q ANSWERED: My Top 3 A/W Foundations!

Hey guys….

Today, lets talk foundation!

If there is one thing I am asked about on a daily basis, it’s the name of my favourite foundation! Well like most ladies, I have more than just one favourite, and those favourites do tend to change depending on the season we’re in. I usually tend to go for a slightly paler foundation in winter than I would in summer for obvious reasons!

If I don’t give my skin a lot of attention during winter, it will always negatively affect the appearance of my makeup. I think every girl experiences this. For instance, if I start to notice my foundation appearing a little blotchy or patchy in places, then I know it’s a sign my skin is thirsty. At the moment, I am using L’Occitane Crème Divine and as I’ve said before, this product is amazing! It really is like giving my skin a glass of water! It softens and hydrates my skin and as a result, my foundation glides on.

Anyway, you can check out my full skincare routine (as well as lots of skincare tips) in my upcoming YouTube video, which I’m hoping will be up by Friday.

Today however I’m going to be taking you guys through my top 3 A/W foundations!

1.  Armani Luminous Silk Foundation (Shade 5.5)

I went back to using my Armani Luminous Silk Foundation only just last week and I wore it on Saturday at my workshop too.

Lately, my skin has been lacking a nice radiant glow, the kind it usually has during summer, but this foundation really brings that radiance back into the complexion. It brightens the skin and leaves it looking flawless. I use the shade 5.5 which I find it perfect for my complexion during the winter months. It’s gorgeous on, and I honestly don’t think I have ever heard a bad review about it.

As it’s quite build-able, I usually apply two good two layers, but I also use a little concealer on the areas where I want extra coverage. Because it has a very dewy consistency, I also like to set it with a light dusting of translucent power. (Just don’t ever set it with an iridescent powder or you’ll end up looking like a disco ball!)

2. Stila Stay All Day Foundation & Concealer (Shade number 7)

Stila

Some of you might remember I first tried the Stila Stay All Day Foundation & Concealer two weeks ago. Well I have used a good few times since then, and so far I am really liking it.

A big plus with this product is that a tiny amount goes a very long way. I usually wear this more so when I’m going out at night as it gives a nice mattified look. Now, I’m not too overly keen on matte foundations but sometimes they are a good choice when you need a foundation that has strong staying power and won’t reflect any shine in photos. This particular foundation has stronger coverage than the Armani foundation but I think some might find it very mattifying. It would really suit someone who wants their foundation to stay in place all day without any touch ups.

I personally never go for a full-on matte look. Even if I’m wearing a matte foundation such as this one, I will still always add some highlighter for that touch of glow. My favourites are MAC Soft & Gentle or theBalm’s Mary Loumanizer.

3. Make Up For Ever HD Foundation (shade 123)

Make Up For Ever’s HD foundation is one brand I use all year around.

This foundation is definitely one of the best. It never looks cakey, it’s so build-able and it has amazing staying power too. It’s definitely one of those products that you can always rely on. It’s also rather dewy-matte in appearance.

Whenever I need an extra bit if coverage, I will also apply Make Up For Ever’s Ultra Invisible Cover Stick Foundation over the HD foundation. Afterwards I lock in the look with some translucent powder, usually Make Up For Ever HD translucent powder which is a white loose powder that sets in sheer. Sometimes I will also use the Lancôme Belle De Teint Powder as it contains a gorgeous iridescent shimmer. I particularly love to use the Lancôme powder during the summer months for that extra glow, but a touch of it during the winter is quite nice too.

You don’t have to use the Ultra Invisible Cover Stick Foundation over the HD foundation. I just find that it gives me that bit more coverage in places such as the cheeks, chin and middle of my forehead.
