Beyonce may be the more famous of the two, but that doesn’t mean baby sister Solange doesn’t steal her thunder from time to time! The New Orleans-based DJ posed in a gorgeous prints for a Harper’s Bazaar spread featuring the vibrant colour she’s known for.
“I’ve always had an annoying relationship with the term ‘tastemaker,’ but it’s been a defining part of my career for the past couple of years.”
In a rainbow-printed, free-flowing Chanel dress with matching sunglasses, Solange looks effortlessly cool. She also gets to show off her long legs in a flower-printed Moschino jump suit with Marni sandals, before donning a Ralph Lauren Collection black and white matching sweater and skirt.
Solange Knowles married Daniel Smith at age 17, and have a nine year old son together. The couple divorced in 2007 but they still share responsibility for their son.
“We co-parent really well. I’m able to say, ‘I need to finish this album, can you step up and take care of the boy?'”
Though she has since maintained a steady relationship with video director Alan Ferguson, she admits that her inspiration for her music comes from some of the tougher relationships she has had.
“Luckily, I dated all of the losers ages ago. My love life has been stable for a while. It’s a f–ked-up thing – without conflict it’s a lot harder to write interesting songs.”
