With the cold evenings approaching quickly it’s time to root out and purchase some new scarves to keep us nice and toasty this winter. This year the Blanket Scarf has taken over, they will play a huge role in helping you to keep up with fashion for the cold winter ahead! Fashionista Olivia Palmero and several celebs have been spotted wearing this cosy look.
Designers such as Burberry and Marc Jacob have created the Japanese inspired look by simply wrapping a belt around your waist with a scarf – easy peasy!
This is so easy to do and you could have a new outfit everyday as scarves are so affordable, Penneys have a huge variety of scarves in every colour!
Shops like River Island, New Look, Zara and Topshop have gorgeous pattern scarves that you could easily add to a plain black day dress with tights. The scarf will add a pop of colour to those dull winter black and greys!
Here are two dresses that would perfectly suit the blanket scarf look.
Misguided €12.99
Misguided €32.49
To pull this look off successfully there are a few things to keep in mind. The scarf should be light enough so it won’t create too much bulk when the belt is tied. You don’t want to be adding the look of extra weight to your body. You could also match your blanket scarf with jeans and a jumper but watch out for layering as again it could add the look of extra weight and nobody wants that! A dress is so simple, there is a lot less fussing around and is the best way to showcase your statement scarf!
Zara €29.95
Blanket scarves especially the Tartan style, are very chunky but look incredible and Tartan is a major trend right now. Use a thin belt when wearing these, it will draw the eye to the waist (the narrowest part of your torso) so you look slimmer – bonus!
Don’t be afraid to mix it up using both thick and thick belts, elastic belts will be most comfortable!
Here are some of my favourite scarves suitable for this seasons must have trend!
River Island €20 – match this with an emerald green or black dress
River Island Faux Fur Scarf €73 – a bit pricey but Faux Fur is a statement piece alone, match it with a cream dress
New Look €24.99 (10% student discount)
Accessorize €34.90
Forever 21 €7.45
