5 Ways To Live Like Beyonce

catwoman_tumblr

I strongly believe if you work hard, whatever you want, it will come to you. I know thats easier said than done, but keep trying!

The world has Beyonce fever right now.

From her surprise album launch before Christmas to her raunchy Grammys performance and kicking off her European tour – she is one independent, driven lady!!

Her photos and videos litter our news feeds right now (especially here at So Sue Me). There’s just something (well a lot of things) that make her so damn perfect to us. Okay, so no woman is perfect, but if there was someone for your daughter or sister to look up to – Beyonce is a pretty perfect woman to start with.

Yes, we don’t have her millions in the bank or her beautiful body but as i hoovered my home today, pajama-clad, listening to Beyonces ‘Flawless’ feeling pretty badass (her music has that effect right?), It dawned on me that there are plenty of ways to live like Beyonce.

Bear with me …

1) Keep Going Til You Get What You Want

When Bey was just a young ‘un, she tried and failed at several singing competitions … seriously. ‘The reality is, sometimes you lose. And you’re never too good to lose. You’re never too smart to lose, it happens’ –  She said it herself…. and look at her now, so much money in the bank it would make your head spin, loving husband, adorable child and domination in the musical world. Okay, so it helps her case that she possesses an incredible talent, her singing voice… but that just happens to be Beyonces path in life. What’s yours?

Whether it’s that promotion in your office, or that college course you’ve always dreamed of. Keep trying untill you get it.

2) You can have a relationship AND rule the world

Finding love is wonderful and of course an important part of life. BUT, it is not the ‘be all and end all’ of life. Just because you get married or start a family doesn’t mean the rest of your life has to stop.

‘Your self-worth is determined by you. You don’t have to depend on someone telling you who you are’.

Likewise, being single shouldn’t entail that your main goal in life is to ‘find a man and settle down’ as society might tell you. Don’t forget Beyonce started off as an ‘Independent Woman’, her career went from strength to strength before she eventually tied the knot…and that certainly ain’t gonna stop her reaching for more either. In her single ‘Flawless’ she sing:

‘I took some time to live my life, but don’t think I’m just his little wife’.

If anything Beyonce has shown that being in love empowers both individuals in the relationship. If you are in a relationship, encourage and support each other. No one of us is the more important one. Whether you are the stay at home Mammy or the bread earner don’t let one thing rule your life. Mammies and wives can have goals too.

3) Be Happy

Simply, be happy.

‘I aspire to be happy’. ‘When i’m not feeling my best I ask myself – ‘What are you gonna do about it?’ I use the negativity to fuel the transformation to a better me’

What fantastic words to live by. Ask yourself, what is in your life that’s making you unhappy? Can you change it? Most of the time, the answer is yes. Hate your job? Get out there and search for the right one. More negatives than positives in your relationship? Don’t settle for it. Life is too short to waste time being unhappy.

4) Act Confident Even if You Don’t Feel It

‘The most alluring thing a woman can have is confidence’

When you act confident, you will eventually FEEL confident for real and reap the rewards. And if there’s one thing Beyonce has, it’s bags of confidence. She introduced us to her stage alter ego ‘Sasha Fierce’ a few years back who she’s admitted she hid behind when on performing. Bring out your inner Sasha Fierce to achieve your dreams. If only temporarily, soon like Bey, you won’t need to hide any more.

5) Remember That Nobody Is Perfect

‘Perfection is a disease of the nation’

You said it Bey! In a world where we are surrounded by the beauty and glamour of the entertainment world, it can be hard for some of us to be happy with ourselves. Even in our own daily lives we see everyone else post their perfect lives on Facebook, or we see the beautiful models in magazines and stunning actresses on screen. Here’s the thing though, they all have flaws, WE all have flaws. Even Beyonce.

Nobody sees what goes on behind closed doors.

She has suffered knock-backs in both her career and personal life. She’s been slated for performances, she has seen personal tragedy in the form of a miscarriage .. Even down to the silly problem of bad photos of her ending up on the internet. All of this can be endured by any one of us.

Beyonces message in her latest album is to find the beauty in imperfection.

“I have a lot of awards and I have a lot of these things that are amazing and I worked my ass off. I worked harder than probably anyone I know to get those things. But nothing feels like my child saying, ‘Mommy!’ Nothing feels like when I look my husband in the eyes.

“Nothing feels like I’m respected, when I get on the stage and see I’m changing people’s lives. Those are the things that matter, and at this point in my life, that’s what I’m striving for. Growth. Love. Happiness. Fun. Enjoy your life, it’s short. That’s the message.”

Despite all her fame and success Beyonce strives for what every one of us strives for.

See, she’s just like you and i. 🙂
