Simon Cowell has decided to shake things up a bit for the 12th series of X Factor, due to hit our screens shortly. Cowell has revealed a new line up of judges in the hopes of stopping a drop in viewers numbers and breathing new life into the talent competition.
Rita Ora and Radio presenter Nick Grimshaw are the new faces joining Cheryl and Simon on the judging panel, with long-time judge Louis Walsh apparently after getting the chop. Rita Ora, who did one season on The Voice as a judge, has told reporters that she is delighted to be a part of such a popular show, and knows what to expect after doing a brief stint previously as a guest judge.
“I am excited to be coming back. had a ball here in 2012. This is a journey I can’t wait to embark on to find some talented singers. It’s the new generation taking over. Booooom.”
Grimshaw too has stated his happiness at getting the job, and producers will be hoping his chemistry with Ora shines through, as the pair are close friends.
“I love X Factor and have watched the series religiously since it started, so obviously I’m hugely excited to be joining the show. Music is my job and my passion and I’m really looking forward to seeing what talent we can find and nurture this year. I can’t wait for judges’ houses in Oldham!”
With Dermot O Leary being replaced by Olly Murs as host, the show has really undergone a change from what we’ve seen before, but only time will tell how much of a success the fresh blood will be.
