Anna Wintour is without doubt one of the biggest names in fashion and her power to make or break a brand is renowned. She has been the editor-in-chief as Vogue now for a quarter of a century (1988!!!) and has become an important figure throughout the fashion world, widely praised for her eye for fashion trends and her support for younger designers.
Now, an online site has broken the story that Anna has quite an off the wall choice for her replacement lined up, quoting an anonymous publishing source.
“Anna is worrying colleagues who believe she has found her true successor in Sarah Jessica Parker! It’s a surprising idea, but one that is not entirely a joke. Anna thinks Sarah, a fashion icon on Sex and the City, truly has what it takes to step into her shoes and take on a role at Vogue one day.”
SJP’s rep has refuted the rumour saying that the pair have been friends for a long time and the idea of Sarah taking over Anna’s position at Vogue has never been discussed.
But maybe, though? It could be one of those things, where it’s so weird and unusual, it just might be the final trick up Anna’s sleeve. Imagine a Vogue as a cheesy, pun filled Sex and the City column, and it could be the kind of thing to attract a whole new generation of readers!!
Either that or Anna should consider hiring a rookie understudy who rises through the ranks to become the most likely candidate to take over. The Devil Wears Prada 2 anyone?!?
