The undisputed queen of the music industry has dropped a “visual album” on HBO over the weekend, and fans have been in an uproar since the new music launched. Beyonce’s “Lemonade” debuted on Saturday night and sent the internet into a tizzy over some deeply controversial lyrics.

As well as references to female empowerment and the Black Lives Matter movement, throughout the new album, references are made to an unfaithful spouse, which has fans of the artist speculating that her husband Jay Z may have cheated on her.

There is a side to Beyonce that we haven’t seen before in the media on show, an angry and hurt side to her, that has everyone playing the videos over and over again trying to figure out their true meaning. One example is the song”Sorry,” where Beyonce sings:

“I see them boppers in the corner / They sneaking out the back door / He only want me when I’m not there / He better call Becky with the good hair.”

The hour long album is deeply personal and in it, the singer shares some footage of her time at home with her father, her wedding, her pregnancy and Blue Ivy’s birthday. Lemonade also includes cameos from Serena Williams and Zendaya.

The album was simultaneously launched on Tidal, Jay Z’s streaming service that was hoped would rival Spotify, but has so far failed to be the huge draw that he anticipated.
