It’s been a decade since the final episode of Sex and the City first hit tv screens, and almost half that since the last movie, but now it seems that SJP is intent on bringing her most famous role back for one more outing!
It’s being reported that she told InStyle magazine that she thought there could still be more of the story to tell. “A part of me thinks there is one last chapter to tell. But timing is a peculiar thing. It isn’t a decision that can wait forever. I don’t want to have to wear muumuus!”
Recently as well, Kristin Davis, who played Charlotte, was quoted as saying she thought a third film was a possibility. “I don’t think [a third film] is a pipe dream, there is discussion. People talk about it amongst the people who are the players, but I don’t know if it will come together. It would be very exciting if it did.”
The big question is, would anyone actually go see the movie?? The second one was terrible, even hardcore fans were hard pressed to find some good qualities to it and it didn’t exactly light up the box office, taking in $95 million in the states from a $100 million budget.
Another issue to bear in mind is that Candace Bushnell, who wrote the original books has come out and said that SJP is “too old2 at 47 to play Carrie anymore. ‘Realistically, a middle-aged woman who was married without children would be much more focused on her career and less focused on this Mr. Big: “Does he love me?” … “Does he still not love me?”
Add to that the fact that Cynthia Nixon previously told The Hollywood Reporter: ‘I think it’s fine to let it go.’ And Chris Noth accused the media of ‘killing’ the franchise after critics disliked the second film, it would seem there are still some substantial hurdles to get over if a third film was ever to materialise.
I guess this one is over to the fans… Would you guys go see it??
