When the Clueless movie came out in 1995, (yes, 20 years ago!!) what girl wasn’t fascinated by Cher Horowitz? She had the most amazing revolving computerised closet, a mobile phone – back when NO ONE had either computers or phones – and lived pretty much the perfect life.
We here at SoSueMe were obsessed with that film (and still are!) so as part of our #ThrowbackThursday series, we decided to take a look at the whereabouts of Cher’s social circle today!
P.s. If you missed the first installment of the #ThrowbackThursday series where we took a look back at the 90’s stars of Home & Away, you can check it out here.
Cher Horwitz (Alicia Silverstone)
Following Clueless, Alicia Silverstone went on to star in Batman & Robin, but never quite enjoyed the same success that came with Clueless.
Surprisingly, she was not cast for the Clueless TV show, which followed the movie. Instead, producers decided on Rachel Blanchard to play Cher. (Also considered for the role was Melissa Joan Hart, who turned it down in favour of starring in Sabrina The Teenage Witch, and Sarah Michelle Gellar who later starred as Buffy The Vampire Slayer.)
These days, Alicia is a staunch animal-rights activist, and has been very vocal about the benefits of a vegan lifestyle. She also released a book on the topic called ‘The Kind Diet’.
She is married 10 years to musician Christopher Jarecki and together they have a 5 year-old son, Bear Blu. Last year, Alicia penned a health-related book, called ‘The Kind Mama’.
Dee (Stacey Dash)
While Alicia Silverstone and Brittany Murphy were both 18 when Clueless was filmed, Stacey Dash, aka Dee, was 28! She later appeared in the TV spin-off as the same character, and even though she was in her early thirties at the time, she still managed to convince viewers she was a teeanger!
Stacey went on to star in the CBS drama, The Game, alongside Tia Mowry (from Sister Sister) and Brittany Daniel (from Sweet Valley High!)
The 48 year old, who now works as a Fox News contributor, has been married 3 times and has 2 children.
Tai Fraiser (Brittany Murphy)
Following her role as Tai in Clueless, Brittany Murphy went on to star in a number of hit movies including Sin City and Eight Mile.
She also provided the voice of the character Luanne in the animation, ‘King of The Hill’ and even went on to release a club hit with Paul Okenfield!
A former girlfriend of Eminem and Ashton Kutcher, Brittany married British screenwriter, film director, producer and make-up artist, Simon Monjack. Sadly, in December 2009, the 32 year-old actress died from pneumonia, anemia and drug intoxication. Her husband was also found dead in May 2010 and it was later determined that he had died from acute pneumonia and severe anemia.
Brittany’s father maintains the couple were poisoned.
Christian (Justin Walker)
Justin Walker played the part of Cher’s crush, Christian.
Surprisingly, he has not acted since 2005 and today he runs a restaurant in California, Teddy Teadle’s Grill.
Amber (Elisa Donovan)
Following Clueless, Elisa went on to appear in a number of TV productions, most notable ‘Sabrina, the Teenage Witch’.
In 2012, Elisa married Charlie Bigelow, her boyfriend of 3 years. Together they have a young daughter, Scarlett Avery.
Mr Hall (Wallace Shawn)
Wallace Shawn played the memorable role of Cher’s teacher, Mr Hall. Not only did Wallace play stepfather to Blair Waldorf in Gossip Girl, he also voiced the character of Rex the dinosaur in Toy Story!
Today the 71 year-old actor writes controversial plays!
Miss Geist (Twink Caplan)
67 year-old Twink Caplan, as most of you will remember, played the part of the hapless Miss Geist, who found herself at the center of Dee and Cher’s plot to matchmake her with Mr Hall.
Twink, a comedian and producer, reprised her role for the Clueless TV show however while she continues to act and produce, Clueless still remains her most notable project to date.
Travis (Breckin Meyer)
Minnesota native Breckin Meyer is barely recognisable from his stoner skater character Travis. (Remember when Travis fell in love with Tai?!)
Today the father-of-two does a lot of voice over work. He has also appeared in a number of movies including The Craft, 54, Go, Road Trip, Josie and the Pussycats, Herbie: Fully Loaded, and Garfield, which he openly regrets if his Twitter bio is anything to by!
Elton (Jeremy Sisto)
Writer, producer and actor, Jeremy Sisto, went on to enjoy a successful career in television following his role in Clueless. He starred in productions such as Law & Order, Six Feet Under and Suburgatory.
The 41 year-old father-of-2 says fans of Clueless still randomly sing ‘Rollin With The Homies’ when they see him.
Josh (Paul Rudd)
It’s often easy to forget that Anchorman’s Paul Rudd was also one of the stars of Clueless! His character, Josh, was Cher’s love interest, which, at the time, EVERYONE found downright weird as he was also her brother…well, ‘former step-brother’, but still!
Just like Stacey Dash, Rudd still looks as young as he did 20 years ago!
Murray (Donald Faison)
Donald is probably better known for his role in Scrubs as Dr Turk, than he is for his role in Clueless. He starred in both the movie and the TV show as Murray, Dee’s boyfriend.
Zach Braff’s BFF went on to marry Jessica Simpson’s, CaCee Cobb, and together they have 2 children.
