Autumn is that tricky time of year where the weather is at its most unpredictable. Just last week we were washed away in awful rain showers. Today the sun was shining again. Whats a girl to wear these days? We can’t be affording to buy new outfits EVERY time the weather changes (which is a lot here in Ireland) so we’re here to help you use some of your Summer styles and ease yourself into Autumn.
1) The Maxi Dress
Every Summer we invest in maxi dresses – They’re so comfy and cool during hot weather, they hide any unwanted lumps and bumps and look good on all shapes and sizes, so no wonder we find it hard to part with them when Autumn comes around. Why not keep the look going by layering it up with a baggy cardigan or a cropped denim jacket. Take a leaf out of Vanessa Hudgens book and give your maxi a boho vibe with and oversized cardigan. Top off your look with a floppy hand and shoulder bag for a nice transitional outfit which you can change up with the temperature outside.
2) Denim Shorts
One of my fave Autumn looks is taking your Summer shorts and adding a pair of opaques. You can basically wear the same outfit with an added under-layer for warmth. Peasant blouses, baggy tee’s, or tank tops – They all look good with a trusty pair of denim shorts. Add a blazer of leather jacket and you’re good to go!
3) Layer Your Summer Dress
For a funky way to keep wearing your strappy dresses – Pop a layer underneath. Whether that be a printed tee or a long-sleeved shirt. It can be a preppy or rock-chick look. Go for a mixed style with band tee under a floral dress with biker boots.
4) Add Socks Appeal
Another cute way to ‘Autumn’ up your Summer looks is to add knee socks. Pair them with a dress or shorts to keep those legs warm but also keep a somewhat Summer vibe
5) If In Doubt – Add A Scarf
Any outfit can be complete with a scarf. Its starting to cool down and while we’re not quite ready for woolly hats and scarves – A light printed scarf can be the perfect addition for a transitional Autumn look.
