Fringing, Floppy Hats and Flash Tattoos – How Coachella will influence our Summer Style

As the first festival of the year Coachella tends to set the mark for Summer fashion for the rest of us. We see the stars and what they’re wearing and we want to replicate at our own festivals. It’s a good thing the high street follows suit because there are plenty of trends we want in our wardrobe this Summer.

Fringing

Fringing is huge right now, we’re already seeing some trickling into the high street. Fringed waistcoats, fringed tops, fringed shorts … even fringed accessories. But the rule is to only wear one piece at a time. (Avoid Cow-Girl overload!!) Paired with the festival staple – denim cut-offs for a perfect trendy rodeo look. Even some of the prints we saw were Wild West themed.

 

Floppy Hats

Okay so floppy hats are a given come festival season, even more so when you see them on leggy supermodels. The perfect outfit topper it double-jobs as a sun blocker and a stylish addition to your look.

 

Flash Tattoos

Flash tattoos are a new accessory this year, rivalling henna tattoos on the festival scene. They’re shinier and funkier and generally easier to remove. most high street stores are selling them on their counters now. Make like Sarah Hyland and stack them up your arm.

Waist Coats

Waist coats seem to be having a moment right now and it suits us Irish gals as we transition from Spring to Summer i.e it’s still pretty cold out there. Waist coats are a good way to cover up without wearing anything too bulky, like a cardi or jacket. They can be a cute add on to a tee or long sleeve, but also super cute over a bikini top a la Kendall Jenner. A full length waist coat is even funkier if you prefer Kylies look.

Sheer

Holding down the feminine side of festival fashion is the ‘Sheer’ look. An unusual style for this type of event, Sunny Cali gets away with it more with their dry weather. However we do admit it is quite stunning when grunged down with boots.

 

Expect to see all these trends in the high street stores this side of Summer, then all we need is the sun and the celebs and we’re set. Coachella what?
