Dame Angelina Jolie???

It’s official; the next time you meet Angelina Jolie (ALWAYS bump into her in Pennys – totes awks!!), you have to curtsy and bow!! The actress has been bestowed the honour of becoming a Dame by The Queen herself, for her humanitarian work.

In a ceremony at Buckingham Palace, the Queen presented Angelina with the Insignia of an Honorary Dame Grand Cross, of the Most Distinguished Order of St Michael and St George, and with that, the Hollywood star became Dame Angelina.

Angelina has worked as an Ambassador for the UN’s High Commissioner for Refugees since 2001 and has carried out over 40 field missions. She also recently co-chaired the End Sexual Violence In Conflict (ESVC) global summit in London, and it was during this time that it was announced she would receive the honour, however Angelina played down the tributes.

“Working on the Preventing Sexual Violence Initiative and with survivors of rape is an honour in itself. I know that succeeding in our goals will take a lifetime and I am dedicated to it for all of mine.”

Congrats to Angelina Jolie and here’s hoping she continues her important charity and humanitarian work for many more years to come.
