Oscar-winning British film director Richard Attenborough has died at the age of 90. Lord Attenborough was one of Britain’s leading actors, before becoming a highly successful director, and along with his brother David is one of the best loved British icons.
His career spanned over six decades, and included an Oscar winning turn as a director on Gandhi. He was perhaps best known to a younger generation for his onscreen roles in Jurassic Park and Miracle on 34th Street.
He passed away at lunchtime today aged 90 after being ill for a number of years. RIP Richard Attenborough, cinema’s one true Santa Claus.
