Most people would consider 70 years of age a lengthy and full lifetime, so it’s a rare and beautiful thing to hear of a couple who have spent that long by each other’s side. Kenneth and Helen Felumlee did almost everything together during 70 years of marriage, so it was little surprise that when it came to the end, one couldn’t go on without the other.
When Helen Felumlee died at the age of 92 on Saturday morning, her family knew it wouldn’t be long before her husband Kenneth followed. They were near inseparable all their lives so their family wasn’t surprised when Kenneth, 91, passed away only 15 hours after his wife.
“We knew when one went, the other was going to go. We wanted them to go together, and they did.” their daughter said.
The couple met when they were 18 and 19 years old and immediately got along, dating for three years before sneaking off to wed secretly in February 1944. Helen and Kenneth had eight children in Nashport, Ohio, and during their years together the couple visited almost all 50 states by bus. In their final days, they ate breakfast together while holding hands. Awww, so sweet and the real definition of what it is to love someone.
