VIP Style Awards 2023

A Night of Style, Laughter, Nerves & So Much Love: Reflections from the VIP Awards 2023

Hello everyone!

Wow, what a night it was at the VIP Awards 2023! First and foremost, I want to express my gratitude for being voted the most stylish woman of the year. It’s such an honour, and I couldn’t be more thrilled. Thank you all from the bottom of my heart for your love and support!

Before I dive into the rollercoaster of emotions I experienced that evening, I must acknowledge the incredible VIP publisher, Michael O ‘Doherty. His speech touched my heart, and his unwavering support throughout the years has been nothing short of inspiring. Michael, you’re a rockstar in the industry, and I can’t thank you enough.

I would be remiss not to acknowledge the incredible talent and creativity that filled the room. From fashion icons to rising stars, the VIP Awards showcased the extraordinary individuals who shape and inspire the beauty and fashion industry. It celebrated diversity, self-expression, and the power of personal style.

As I stood on that stage, accepting the award, my mind wandered back to the early days of my journey. I couldn’t help but feel a surge of gratitude for all the ups and downs that led me to this moment. It’s a reminder that success is not overnight but a result of countless hours of dedication, hard work, and more than a sprinkle or two of luck.

During the event, I enjoyed connecting with fellow influencers and peers. The energy in the room was electric, filled with excitement, support, and a shared passion for our craft. Moments like these remind me of the incredible community we’ve built, where collaboration and empowerment thrive. Everyone looked absolutely amazing. That’s one of the things I love the most about the VIP’s is getting to see everyone personality coming out in their outfits, all the different styles and colours, it’s amazing to see. Here are just some looks from the night:

Now, let’s talk about our fabulous host, Doireann Garrihy. Oh, how she lit up the room with her classic humour and infectious energy! Doireann, you have a talent for bringing people together, breaking the ice, and leaving us in stitches. Your roasting abilities are a force to be reckoned with, and one day when I grow up, I hope to have as quick a wit as you! Wagon!

I also want to take a moment to acknowledge my incredible husband, Dylan. Your unwavering support has been my pillar of strength throughout this journey. Thank you for being my rock, confidant, and number-one fan. I love you more than words can express.

While the award I received was an individual one, I am ultimately only where I am because of all the support I receive from my team day by day. So I would like to thank all of my staff at SOSU for their undying patience, graft and loyalty. As you all know, our remarkable CEO, Caroline Dalton, has taken control of the day-to-day operations at SOSU and deserves a standing ovation for her patience and guidance during this process. Letting go of the management of my babies hasn’t been easy for me at all. It’s like watching your child grow up and venture into the world. But Caroline, you’ve been there every step of the way, painstakingly helping me navigate this new chapter. Your expertise and understanding have been invaluable.

To all the young influencers out there, let me tell you something. These events grow grander and grander every year. And despite being around this scene for what feels like a lifetime, I still get incredibly nervy every single time. My anxiety reaches through the roof, and the sensory overload can be overwhelming. So, to anyone reading this who attended, if you felt like a fish out of water on Friday, know you weren’t alone. Even at 38 years young, I experienced the same nervous excitement. It’s okay to feel overwhelmed; it means you’re pushing yourself and growing. Embrace the nerves; they remind you that you’re pushing boundaries and stepping out of your comfort zone. Remember, growth happens when we challenge ourselves. So if you see someone you admire at the next event and are apprehensive about introducing yourself and having a chat, get up off your bum and go for it!

It was a night to remember, filled with glamour, laughter, and a lot of inspiration. It’s a testament to the team at VIP for the longevity and gravitas they’ve achieved in the twenty years that they have shone a light on the incredible talent and creativity in our industry. They are an institution. I hope the growth continues for another hundred years. (Michael, we’re coming to the four courts next year!!!)

Here’s to a future filled with unforgettable moments and empowering collaborations!
