Kylie Jenner has become somewhat of a dark horse for Beauty followers recently. It feels like she went from Tween to Queen in the space of a few weeks. The ‘insta-verse’ is constantly a buzz about her snaps and updates, what colour her hair is this week, what gym gear she works out in and of course … those lips.
We’ve all spoke at length about her lips (and how to get them here) and now she has been showcasing a different lip trend – The Goth Lip.
An unusual trend for this time of year, but helmed at this seasons fashion week, who are we to argue? Designers such as Emanuel Ungaro and Giles sent their models down the runway sporting dark gothy lips, normally only seen coming into Winter. With an Insta-star such as Kylie Jenner representing this edgy look, we ask, is this a trend you’d try this Summer?
If this look is too much of a jump for your normal beauty routine, you can ease yourself in with deep plums and burgundies. The idea is to keep the rest of your make up minimal so as to not look too over the top. Your lips should be the focus.
As with all dark hued lip colours, make sure your lips are nice and moisturised beforehand, give them a little exfoliation with a soft toothbrush even, otherwise the colour seeps into the cracks. Pop a dab of foundation over your lips beforehand also to enhance and deepen the shade. Keep the lippy matte too.
