Hi guys

It’s been a while since I wrote a beauty review, so I decided that my first beauty review of 2018 would be about something wonderful!

I had a few ideas in mind at first, but after I posted a picture to my Instagram yesterday morning of a new foundation I was loving, I figured it would actually be the ideal topic for a review as you guys wanted to know lots more about it!

Although I have a few foundation faves (such a MakeUp ForEver, Maybelline FitMe, YSL, Illamasqua etc) the Huda Beauty #FauxFilter Foundation is definitely in my top 3 now!

Longtime followers will know that when it comes to a foundation, I love full coverage, a velvet finish, and serious staying power. I have to say, after having used Huda Beauty #FauxFilter Foundation on very regular basis over the past week or so, it is definitely one of the rare few that has all of those qualities and more.

Huda Beauty is, as most of you will know, the brand created by Huda Kattan. Huda is without doubt the world’s leading blogger, and on the back of her blogging success, she created her own product range which has been a huge hit. As a brand owner myself, I’m a big admirer of Huda and her work ethic, and I think she has really nailed it with her products too. They’re insanely good!

So now for the details!

The Shades I Use:

The Huda Beauty Colour Chart, and the two shades I use

I used the shade Custard for daytime, or when I don’t have my tan on. If I’m wearing a tan, I use the shade Tres Leches. Sometimes, however, I will mix the two shades depending on how my tan is wearing etc.

What Is It?

So a couple of months ago, Huda Beauty launched her own foundation, and right from the moment it hit the shelves, it made waves in the beauty world.

It was the ultimate must-have foundation and it got glowing reviews so naturally, like all beauty lovers, I couldn’t wait to try it out!

I picked up two shades from BT’s, you can also shop online here. It’s great having two shades because now I have one colour to suit my natural skin tone for when I’m not wearing a tan, and then a second (slightly darker) shade to match my colouring for when I do have a tan on. I also mix the two foundations as well depending on the kind of shade I want to go for.

I have been using the foundation for just over a week now and I have to say I love it. I heard a few people on Snapchat talking about how they have oily skin and so, they didn’t like the foundation as much as they had hoped to, but I have quite dehydrated skin so I actually found it was perfect for my skin type, it reminded me of Illamasqua a lot.

The main reason I love it is for its full coverage. I’m a big fan of the full coverage look, especially for night time. The great thing about full coverage foundations is that you also have the option of diluting the product if you want to tone down the coverage a little. For instance, if you feel that a full coverage look would be too heavy for daytime, just mix the foundation with either some MAC strobe cream or moisturiser, and you will get a more natural finish.

It’s also great for camouflaging blemishes and dark circles as well. I have dark circles and usually, I disguise them with concealer, but when I applied this foundation, I found it was enough to cover them on its own. I didn’t even need to apply concealer on top of that.

It’s one of those foundations that glides on so well and it has such a lovely consistency when you blend it in. One of the best things about this foundation is that a little goes a long way. I personally use a 1/2 of a one-cent coin sized amount, and that’s enough to cover both my face and neck.

The Finish:

The foundation gives you a flawless, velvet finish. In my opinion, it’s a semi-matte finish but it still gives the skin a lovely glow. It does seem to ‘set’ on the face though so in that sense it does have more of a matte feel. Huda herself describes it as a radiant powder finish, and you really do get just that.

In terms of longevity… it is very long lasting too. Anytime I have worn it, I barely needed to top it up.

How I Apply It?

SOSU Brushes

For the foundation application, I use my own brush – the SF101 SOSU By SJ kabuki brush. I then contour using the bronzer powder (shade 6) from my own Complete Contour Palette with the SF104.

At the end, I powder with shade 3 all over with my SF105 to set the foundation.

How much is it and where to get

It costs €36 and is available here online and or from Brown Thomas in Ireland too.

So there you have it guys, my thoughts on the new Huda #FauxFilter Foundation.

If you were in two minds about whether or not to buy it, I hope my review helped you decide.

If you tried it, let me know in the comment box what you thought of it!
