Summer Holidays = Waxing Time!

waxing

Hi guys!

Happy Tuesday – hope you all had a nice weekend?

Can you believe it’s June already – I cant believe how fast the months are flying in.

This month is looking to be a busy one for SOSU, well actually the rest of the summer is. So before the madness, I am off for a few days away with Dylan and my friends.

If you are following me for a few years now, then you will know that myself, Dylan and a few friends head out to Marbella every summer. I have been going to Marbella every year for the last 6 years or so, and I never get bored of it. Marbella is such a glamorous place, and definitely one of my favourite destinations. It’s the kind of place where you are pretty much guaranteed beautiful weather and some seriously amazing pool parties.

We leave one Wednesday for the week, and so this weekend I was getting a few things ticked of my to do list ahead of the trip…. and one of those was my waxing!

After a few friends in the blogging world recommending Waxperts inDun Laoghaire, I decided to book in there on Saturday for a half-leg, bikini (hollywood), and my underarms. I had been hearing a lot about Waxperts having the best type of wax, and so having been a specialist waxer back in the day, I was intrigued to find out more about this wax they created and use.

I have always been a fan of Lycon wax, but after having experienced the Waxperts wax last Saturday, I have been totally converted!

A few people on my istagram asked me why is it different to Lycon and other waxes and so here is the answer;

1. The Waxperts wax is not as hot as any other wax I have tried. When a therapist rewaxes an area, you can really feel the heat because the skin is that bit more sensitive, but that wasn’t the case with the Waxperts wax. You don’t really feel them going over the same area twice which is a relief.

2. The wax routine icludes an oil which protects the skin. Unlike a lot of other waxes, it’s very light on the skin and non-abrasive. Following the Waxperts wax, my skin wasn’t half as red as it normal. After I’d had the half-leg done, I could have gone out wearing a skirt right there and then if I had wanted to because my skin wasn’t one bit red from the waxing.

3.  Its super duper flexible which makes it less painful for the client and easier for the therapist to do a great wax.

They also use some lovely oils on the skin after they wax you, and they are so hydrating and soothing.

Trish was my waxer on the day, and she was so lovely and chatty. It’s never easy getting your bits out for a bikini wax, but Trish really put me at ease and made me so comfortable that I didn’t feel nervous or awkward having to bare all for the wax.

Another thumbs up from me was the premises and their hygiene. My background is in beauty therapy, so I always find myself noticing hygiene standards when I enter a salon. In Waxperts, they don’t double dip, which is always an important habit .

Double dipping is when a spatula is used to apply wax to the skin twice. It’s very unhygienic and you can easily pick up an infection if your therapist double dips. The Waxperts ladies however, pride themselves on hygiene, and so they have a policy of using a new spatula every time they apply the wax, which is pretty impressive for me.

The price point for the waxing is extremely reasonable. It’s not expensive at all. A half leg is €25. They also have some really good package deals too. For instance, an eyebrow, extended bikini and half leg wax is €55.

For those of you worrying about the location of the Waxperts salon, I have some good news for you. Waxperts wax is actually a wholesale product, and it’s used by hundreds of salons around Ireland and England so if you can’t make it to their salon in Dun Laoghaire, then have a look at their list of stockists to find the salon closest to you that stocks it.

I think the important thing to get across here is that Waxperts are specialised waxers. All they do is waxing. I fully believe that when you are having a treatment, whether it’s to do with lashes, brows, or whatever, it’s so important to go to someone who specialises in that area. A specialist will always be so much better at their craft. You just know you will leave with exactly the kind of results what you wanted.

When I was having my wax carried out in Waxperts, Dylan had his eyebrows waxed. There was no redness afterwards, and it was less painful (not to mention quicker) than tweezing. He was so happy with the results, so ladies if you are fed up of tweezing your man’s eyebrows, send him off to have them waxed! 😉

Happy waxing!

Sue xx
