What should have been a triumphant to the X Factor stage turned into a PR disaster for Cheryl Fernandez-Versini last night, as fans of the show took to twitter to accuse the star of miming. Cheryl was giving the debut of her new single I Don’t Care, and after the performance, questions were asked as to how genuine it all was.
Stars miming on X Factor is hardly a huge scandal, but people seemed genuinely annoyed by the fact she spends her time judging contestants on how they dance and sing live, then goes off and gives a questionable performance like the one people saw last night.
It has since emerged that the segment was pre-recorded hours earlier, but despite the fact she was dancing around the stage and never seemed out of breath or her vocals never missed a beat, a rep for Cheryl has contacted the Mail online and insisted that she sang live on stage and did not mime!
Fans, however, did not agree as they took to twitter to voice their disgust.
‘Omg poor Cheryl out of breath miming takes it out of you x #xfactor,’ to ‘I’m on a train. Is Cheryl honestly miming? If she is then I am going to actually speak for the rest of the evening in protest. #xfactor.’
‘It always amazes me when people complain about Cheryl miming. If you heard her sing live you’d WISH she was miming. #xfactor,’ while she was blasted for pre-recording her performence.
‘Pre recorded hours ago & made to look ‘live’ AND bad miming…that’s the spirit Cheryl, set an example to the acts wanting to win #xfactor.’
‘Forget the looks and the dancing.. Is Cheryl actually miming on xfactor ?? and ‘cheryl judges people every week on their live performances but she’s miming oh ok” reason I don’t watch X Factor #hypocrites.’
Her haters can complain all they want though, as Cheryl has the last laugh, with I Don’t Care reaching No 1 on the itunes charts last night.
