In creating the 100 Best Wedding Venues in Ireland 2014, One Fab Day, Ireland’s leading online wedding magazine, left no stone unturned in finding the most unique wedding venues across the country. The independent guide is a list of personal recommendations, curated by the editorial team at One Fab Day, of the best places to celebrate in Ireland regardless of style, budget or size of guestlist.  The variety of venues available has never been so diverse; the one thing they all have in common; each venue has something that little bit extra special, making it perfect for your One Fab Day.

Irish weddings have a new identity.  Creating a bespoke celebration specially tailored to the personal tastes of the couple, is no longer out of reach, but has become what engaged couples in 2014 expect. Couples are seeking out unique and unusual spaces to create an amazing celebration. Privacy is also paramount to couples in 2014.  Exclusive venue hire is one of the most important trends making its way into the Irish wedding industry with more than half the venues included in the guide offering complete privacy for the day.

This new identity has also changed the shape of wedding ceremony choices.  Church weddings are waning in favour of civil and humanist ceremonies, allowing couples more flexibility and opportunity to add personality to their special day. Restaurant weddings are increasing in popularity with 18 restaurants listed in this year’s guide, while hotels are taking a back seat, with only 35 included in the top 100.

Commenting on the launch, Naoise McNally, Co-Founder and Editor of One Fab Day said: “Irish people are becoming more and more experimental with wedding venue choices and with such a selection of diverse venues available across the country, Ireland truly has it all. Couples are choosing to put more emphasis on decorating a space; barns, theatres and galleries are now hugely popular as “blank canvases” and provide couples with the perfect opportunity to create a unique backdrop for an unforgettable party. In recent years we have noticed a lot of couples moving away from traditional church weddings and opting for civil and humanist ceremonies instead.  In response to this growing trend we have included a brief overview of the various ceremonies available to couples and how to go about organising them.”

The 2014 guide will feature 20 unique new venues hand-picked from across the country. It also includes advice on how to choose the right style of venue to suit couples’ needs, ensuring they get off to the right start when planning their special day! The guide is categorised by province and broken down by specific style of venue: exclusive hire venues; country house hotels; boutique hotels; restaurants; private venues and the more unusual or eclectic venues.
