Dermot O’Leary has announced he will be returning to the X-Factor, and frankly we are beyond excited about it!
The popular 42 year-old quit the X Factor last year following eight years in the role, however after last years shows fell victim to a number of embarrassing presenting gaffes and falling ratings, producers are believed to have asked Dermot to return this Autumn for the new series.
Singer Olly Murs and presenter Caroline Flack, both of whom previously fronted The Xtra Factor, found themselves on the receiving end of much criticism last year after they took over Dermot’s role.
It is not yet known if the duo will return to The Xtra Factor this Autumn as Olly sensationally quit the show after news emerged that Caroline had been axed.
Once news of Dermot’s return broke last night, boss Simon Cowell expressed his delight, stating,
“Dermot’s back, hooray! And so is his dancing! Welcome home, Dermot.”
Dermot himself also commented on his decision to return to the show, saying,
“I’m very flattered to be asked back to The X Factor, and am currently dusting off my dancing shoes. There is nothing more exciting than hosting live TV on a Saturday night. The show is naturally very close to my heart, after having hosted it for eight years. I’m really looking forward to it, and excited to be back.”
