The Duke and Duchess of Cambridge have released their annual Christmas portrait, and it’s beyond adorable!
The photo, which was shot in the gardens of Kensington Palace, shows a casually dressed Kate and William kneeling on the grass with their two smiling children Prince George and Princess Charlotte.
The couple are known for their relaxed portraits – a stark contrast to the traditional royal protocol William grew up with – and this particular shot was no different. As you can see, Charlotte’s shoe has even fallen off!
In the picture, Charlotte is wearing a beautiful cashmere cardigan from The Little White Company, and a floral dress from M&H, which was reportedly a gift from the royal nanny.
The photo, which was taken in October, was actually commissioned for personal use however the couple loved it so much, they decided to use it as the portrait for their official family Christmas cards.
This is the first time the family have released a Christmas portrait. The only other picture of the family of 4 was taken after Charlotte’s christening.
Photographer Chris Jelf, who took the picture, told The Guardian, “I thoroughly enjoyed photographing a very lovely family, although you have to be sharp, as you don’t have long when there are two young children involved. I hope everyone enjoys this photo and I am honoured that the Duke and Duchess have decided to share it with the public.”
On Thursday, Prince Charles and Camilla also released their personal Christmas Card, which featured a sweet photograph of the couple shot by a friend on an estate in Scotland last Summer.
