Olive Chester is something of a local legend in Tipperary.
Loved by everyone she’s met over the years, her kind spirit and zest for life at 80 years young are completely infectious and the lady is always up for the craic, no matter who she’s out with.
She’s just one of those beautiful souls that you’re lucky to count as a friend if you’ve ever crossed paths.
One of her life long ambitions was to see New York if the chance came her way, and thanks to the generosity of her granddaughter Lorraine Butler, she’s currently fulfilling that dream, which all began the other day with a heartwarming video on Facebook. You see, Olive thought she was heading to London to visit family, but it turns out that Lorraine wanted to make sure Olive’s dream of seeing The Big Apple came true, and the wonderful staff at Aer Lingus were in on her schemes!
She thought she was off to London town, She’s not. It’s cocktails in Manhattan for this lady’s 80th!

The video has gone viral on Facebook for all the right reasons, and has even appeared on all major media sites! There’s even talk of the video catching the attention of the Ellen Show!
Olive meanwhile is currently living it up in New York, sipping cocktails and checking out the sights on the holiday of a lifetime.
We wish her and Lorraine a great time and hope the trip is every bit as memorable as Olive hoped.
