Like most girls, I love throwing my hair up in a ponytail. Sometime’s I go for a sleek pony, but other times, I just prefer the look of a volumised ponytail instead.
I find whenever I wear my hair in a volumised ponytail, I get a lot of messages from girls asking me how I do my pony, so I figured I would give you guys a helping hand with a step by step tutorial.
Step 1.
First, I run a Tangle Teezer through my hair to make sure the knot-count is zero!
Step 2.
Next I backcomb the top section of my hair before adding some volumising powder such as OSIS Dust It. Some girls find OSIS a bit difficult to work with because it tends to set quite fast. I have never had a problem with it, but if you want something that’s not quite as strong, then there are a good few other volumising powders on the market. For instance, the last time I was in Penneys, I spotted one from Bastiste.
My all time favourite volumising powder however has got to be the Kevin.Murphy Powder.Puff, which I first start using back when I cut my hair and have been obsessed with ever since!
Next I gather all the hair and pull it up at the crown, before tying it tightly with a hair bobbin.
Step 4.
I then pull some strands of hair from the hair bobbin so that the style is not too sleek, and I always clip up any little hairs that might be falling at the back.
Step 5.
To finish off the style, I brush through the pony and mist it with a strong hairspray. I normally use TRESemmé Perfectly Undone Ultra-Brushable Hairspray so that I get the hold but none of the stickiness that some hairsprays have. That way, if I decide to take my hair down after a while, all I have to do is run the brush through it and I’m good to go!
There you have it – easy peasy! I will do a top knot tutorial soon too 🙂
