Top 5: 2014 Hair Trends

2014-Hair-Trends

Back in November we told you all about the top hair trends for Winter 2013, so now it’s time for an update! Take a look at this snap shot of our top 5 stylish hair trends for Spring 2014.

1) Laid Back Waves

Yay! Lazy girls win again! This look was popular in 2013 and wispy fly away waves are back for 2014. Diane von Furstenburg and Versace championed these mermaid-esque waves on the catwalk, which can be easily achieved by scrunching some product into damp hair if you have a natural wave to your hair, or plaiting damp hair and leaving overnight if you don’t. Instant easy chic!

2) The Bob

It might not be for everyone, but the bob is back with a bang! It’s easier to name designers that haven’t sent their models down the catwalk sporting this look, than those that have. Calvin Klein, Burberry, Marc Jacobs and Jason Wu are just some of the designers who wanted their ladies rocking the look.

Their takes on this trend varied from textured and playful to severe and structured, and even included some very high fashion cropped fringes that aren’t for the faint hearted!

3) The Pixie Crop

Recently celebrities like Jennifer Lawrence, Anne Hathaway and Pamela Anderson caused quite a stir by chopping off their long flowing locks. But it turns out they are right on trend for 2014! Come Spring it’s all about the crop- the shorter the better.

Burberry, Chanel and Marc Jacobs have already embraced the look. It’s definitely not for everyone, but if you are brave enough to take the plunge and trim back your tresses you’ll be right on trend, according to the fashion world.

4) The Centre Parting

A side parting has long been the look for most ladies, but fashion houses like Chloe and Christopher Kane are championing the centre parting for 2014, along with sleek locks.

If you are a fan of the sleek and simple look, a trip to the hairdressers may be in order to achieve the perfect centre parting. Designers call it simple but feminine. Back to basics it is ladies!

5) The Relaxed Up Do

Casual and messy up do’s are having a moment and that’s good news for all us girls on the go, as most can be recreated at home. To get the textured and messy look, hairdressers recommend adding hairspray to damp hair, rough dry and scrape the hair back with your hands to create hold and that just thrown together look.

Creating volume at the roots will also lend a helping hand to your messy up do. Erdem were loving this look this season on the runway. They couldn’t get enough of wispy fly away pieces of hair to add a touch of girly glam to their models’ look.

Please tell me how you trained your hair into a centre parting again – my hair keeps flipping to the left! 🙁

I’m don’t want to cut off my long hair ever again haha but I’ve trained my hair into a centre parting again so probably number 3 for me. Nice to see sleek, straight hair is back in 🙂 x
