Every year we look forward to the glitz and glam of the Met Ball. Red carpet season has died down after the new year so our next big celebrity/fashion affair is the Costume Gala at New Yorks Metropolitan Museum. And with a different annual theme, it gives a very fashionable edge over any other carpeted event.
This years theme was ‘China: Through the looking glass’ inspired by the museums latest exhibit. While some stars stuck to it (Sarah Jessica Parker, we salute your consistency!), others didn’t. With this theme we expected lavish and quirky costumes from all, but then again, if they were that extravagant, we wouldn’t be able to copy them would we?
Even though there’s little or no chance we’ll ever be near a red carpet like the Met in our lives, we know Debs season is just around the corner, and how about all these Summer weddings coming up? The perfect excuse to dress like you’re on the red carpet. Luckily some of the celebrities have made this easier for us by donning high street, yes that’s right!!! Now owning a gown worthy of the Met gala can go from a dream to a reality.
TOPSHOP created a series of custom made gowns for a handful of ladies in attendance on the night, some of whom were topping ‘Best Dressed’ lists in the following days. Not too shabby from one of our favourite high street brands.
The best part is that Topshop have released replica dresses ranging up to $400 for anyone looking to steal their style.
Let’s take a look at the dresses and the links to buy them.
Bella Hadid stunned in this mini embroidered high neck. High necks were a reoccuring theme on all the Topshop ladies (possible next season trend alert? You heard it here first)
Emily Ratajkowski in another beautiful high neck. This time in cream and midi in length but still featuring some beautiful oriental flowering embroidery.
Mark Ronsons wife Josephine De La Baume was also flying the Topshop flag in a floor length criss cross embroidered gown with train.
Perfect for a wedding guest dress is Hailey Baldwins mini number.
Get them before they’re gone ladies!!!
