Daily Life: The Low Down On Today’s Photoshoot!

Suzanne Jackson RSVP

Hi guys!

Hope you’re all having a good start to the week!

It has been hectic here at SoSueMe HQ! I had my workshop at the weekend so I spent yesterday catching up on admin and preparing for today’s big photo-shoot!

As most of you probably already know from my Snapchats (sosueme_ie), I shot my first magazine cover today and it was so much fun! It was for RSVP Magazine and as far as I know, it will be on the shelves around March time, but I’ll keep you posted on that.

It was such an exciting day and a milestone too because while I have done many an interview & photo-shoot throughout my 5 years of blogging, this was my first cover shoot and magazine to ask me to grace the cover, which really meant a lot.

It was actually a goal of mine in 2015 in secure a front cover shoot with a magazine, and although it never happened, I am over the moon it has happened this year and at such a wonderful time for me; wedding planning, engagement details, plans for my new brand SOSU and blogging life in general, so the feature will be a detailed one and a special one too.

So today started off with an early rise. I was up at 8am and showered and ready for when my glam squad arrived at 9am!

I had booked Fiona McNamara from Limerick to do my makeup, and her sister Aoife to style my hair.

This super-talented duo were responsible for my workshop hair and makeup, and they also glammed me up for my previous appearance at a pharmacy in Limerick. I’m always thrilled with the results they create so I definitely wanted them on board when I was told about the RSVP cover shoot!

Shortly afterwards, the magazine team arrived, headed by photographer Jenny McCarthy. I had never worked with Jenny before but I was already very familiar with her work through Xpose and through her reputation as an amazing wedding photographer.

Also on the team was the wonderful stylist, Brendan Marc Scully. He was kept on his feet all morning, pressing clothes, hanging them up, matching shoes with accessories.

I got to try on lots of very different looks which I really enjoyed because I always like it when I’m encouraged out of fashion comfort zone. Some of the outfits I wore weren’t typical SoSueMe looks but I loved them on, so I’m really excited to see the pictures!

Later in the morning, the Xpose team arrived, and as you can imagine, it was a full house!

Lisa Cannon interviewed me about the shoot and it was great catching up with her because she’s newly married so she’s still in wedding mode!

We got stuck into the photo-shoot and I honestly can’t wait to see the finished result when the magazine hits the shelves! We even got some pictures with Coco and Harper. If you saw my Snapchat, you’ll see the work that was involved in trying to get the doggies to look at the camera – that was Dylan’s job haha!

After the shoot, we sat down with Bláthín de Paor for a very detailed interview about everything from business, my engagement, my family, and my life in general. I think we were chatting for over an hour and a half so there’ll be lots of details and goss in that issue of RSVP.

By this evening, I was and still am absolutely exhausted! I had to go to my mams to pick up my post and some products for next weekend’s workshop goodie bags! (You can buy tickets for the Mayo workshop here)

and right now, I’m about to finish off my preparation for a talk I have to give in UCC tomorrow evening. Along with a number of influential speakers, I’m going to be talking about the world of blogging and how I built my brand. I’m really excited about the event but come tomorrow, the nerves will no doubt start kicking in! Haha!

I’ll keep you guys updated on when exactly the issue of RSVP will be on shelves and I’ll also let you know when Xpose will be airing the behind the scenes!

Have a lovely week!

Lots of love
