I’m back with another wedding blog and today I am talking about bridal makeup artists!
Makeup is such an important part of the bride’s prep so I thought some brides-to-be might find it helpful to hear a few recommendations.
Below I have listed my own personal top 5. Yes, some of them are Dublin-based, but they all travel so you can book them regardless of where you are in the country.
I have recommended these makeup artists because I have direct experience with them and I know how they work.
For your big day, you want to be relaxed when getting ready and safe in the knowledge that your makeup is in the hands of a total professional.
Well all of the below names are exactly that – total pro’s!
1 – Paula Callan
Paula Callan is the original freelance makeup artist of Ireland. She is at the top of her game and has a leading reputation within the makeup industry.
Her bridal makeup is flawless. She took care of my best friend’s bridal makeup a couple of years ago and it was so beautiful. It was dewy, golden, and so stunning … everything wedding makeup is supposed to be.
Paula was also responsible for the bridal makeup of Glenda Gilson.
Paula has developed brands that have gone from strength to strength. She helped build Brown Sugar, before going on to develop the BUFF Makeup range, and now she owns her own salon Callan & Co.
I was thrilled to have her do my makeup for campaign shoot for my best selling contour palette. I can tell you from my own personal experience that she is an absolute pro.
2- Michelle Regazzolli (MRS Makeup)
Michelle Regazolli is the ultimate glam girl. If you love a really good contour, good coverage, lots of lashes, then Michelle is the girl to go to. Even if you prefer the paired back look, Michelle can create some stunning natural looks.
Michelle was responsible for the stunning Rosanna Davison’s wedding makeup look and has worked with lots of celebrities particuarly in the UK.
Michelle is brilliant at nailing the exact look you want and she is so reliable. She is also so cheerful and relaxed, which is always a help when the wedding morning gets chaotic!
Michelle classes herself as a bridal makeup artist and when it comes to wedding makeup looks, she is one of those artists that just ‘gets it’.
3 – Makeup By Fiona
Limerick based Fiona McNamara is one seriously talented makeup artist.
Her specialty is the airbrush makeup, so if you are looking for makeup that will not budge for the day, she is the girl to go to. Airbrush makeup is really good for people who suffer from skin conditions such as psoriasis or eczema because there is no brush-to-skin contact.
Fiona is a pro when it comes to dealing with problematic skin and has worked with a lot of people with skin conditions. Her bridal makeup is flawless and she is amazing at both the glam and paired back looks.
I have worked with Fiona on a lot of different projects so I know first hand that she is very reliable and has a good team behind her.
She can also offer you hair styling as well as her sister Aoife is a talented hairstylist. If you are looking for duo glam squad, then I would recommend these two ladies.
4 – Sinead Murphy
If you are a massive MAC lover and have your heart set on wearing Studio Fix for your big day then Sinead Murphy is your go-to girl.
I have had Sinead carry out demos at lots of my workshops and she is just ridiculously talented.
Her bridal makeup looks are very soft, golden and dewy, although if you want super glam, she can do that too.
5 – Derrick Carberry
I have yet to work with Derrick Carberry but he has done makeup for friends of mine so I know how unreal his skills are!
He was trained by Paula Callan and they have worked together for years. They now currently run a business together.
Derrick is SUCH a talented makeup artist and any bride would be guranteed to look absolutely stunning after having him apply her makeup.
