1. Once a week, take a bath in Epsom Salts, and if you can, add half cup of baking soda and some essential oil such as lavender. This will help get rid of nasty toxins in the body (and will also soothe the mind!)
2. When exercising, count backwards. For example, if you are carrying out 20 sit ups, don’t count from 1 to 20, start at 20 and count backwards as you do them. This is a psychological trick to make a large number of tough exercises seem more achievable and less daunting.
3. Start listening to your gut instinct. It’s always right. Scientists have studied the ‘gut instinct’ in depth and learned that the dopamine neurons in your body alert you when something or someone in your environment is ‘off’. If you get a bad feeling about a situation, listen to it. It’s happening for a reason.
4. Every day, drink warm water and lemon. If you don’t like lemon, just sip on warm water.
5. NEVER make important decisions based on the opinions and advice of people who won’t be involved in the situation or have to deal with the consequences.
6. Learn to pause. When stressed, angry (especially when angry!), worn down or nervous, just close your eyes, take a deep breath and count to at least 5.
7. Never deprive someone of hope, and always remember that miracles happen.
8. There’s nothing wrong with being eccentric and quirky. If dying your hair the colours of the rainbow will make you happy, then go do it.
9. For every hour of TV you watch, resolve to do 15 minutes of exercise.
10. Be patient and kind towards others. It’s true what they say, “everyone is fighting a battle you know nothing about.” Also remember that it’s never too late to apologise or forgive. Even if it makes no difference to the other person, it will make a difference to you.
11. Never give anyone more than 2 chances.
12. If you never learn another thing in life, learn how to meditate. You’ll be glad you did.
13. Respect yourself and set your standards. Don’t lower these for any person, regardless of how much you like them.
14. Be mindful about who you give your time to. If someone treats you like an option, don’t make them a priority. And above all, don’t let past heartbreaks harden your heart.
15. Snack on something healthy every two hours. This will stop you reaching for the chocolate! If you want to fight a sugar craving, swallow a teaspoon of coconut oil. This will kill the craving.
16. Raising the volume of your voice will not help your argument. Remember this when a discussion gets heated.
Thank you card – here
17. Always show your appreciation. If someone does you a good turn, take the time to send a thank you card. It’s a small gesture that has a BIG impact.
18. It’s ok to do things alone. Want to see a film but your friends aren’t free? Go see it anyway! Want to travel to a particular place but have no one to go with? So what? Go there anyway! Be your own person and learn to enjoy your own company.
19. When out with friends, either put your phone away or limit yourself to checking it once an hour.
20. Never waste an opportunity to make someone smile. Send flowers or chocolates to someone you’re close to. You don’t need a reason.
