My Top Winter Lip Balms!

lipbalm

For as long as I can remember, I have been a lip balm FANATIC!

I absolutely hate being without one, mainly because I suffer from dry lips so it drives me crazy if I can’t soften them with a lip balm.

Like most ladies there’s ALWAYS a lip balm (or 10) to be found in my handbag, car, desk, apartment, etc, so I decided to put together a list of my favourites.

They range from the €1 everyday lip balms to the €35 intensive lip treatments so there’s definitely something on this list to suit everyone!

Don’t forget to let me know your own favourite lip balms in the comment box underneath this post! I always love trying out new lip balm products!

Best Multi-Purpose Balm: Dr Pawpaw Original Balm

elle mcpherson dr pawpaw

Dr Pawpaw Original Balm could probably be described as the best budget alternative to Elizabeth Arden’s 8 Hour Cream.

It makes for a great lip balm, but it can also be used for a variety of different purposes, such as smoothing flyaway hairs, highlighting cheekbones, softening and repairing cracked heels, and of course, taming brows! It’s literally a multi-purpose product and has won a ton of awards over the years because it’s so good.

Supermodel and businesswoman Elle McPherson has long been a huge fan of Dr Pawpaw. Singer Rochelle Humes, actress Heleen Flannagan and presenter Emma Willis are also known to frequently use it as a lip balm.

Dr Pawpaw’s Original Balm is available in most pharmacies but it can also be purchased here.

Pricey but SO worth it: Jo Malone’s Vitamin E Lip Conditioner

jo malone

I’m a huge fan of the Jo Malone brand.

Her fragrance ‘basil, lime & mandarin’, is my signature scent! Well last year, I tested the Jo Malone Vitamin E Lip Conditioner and at the time of the review I described it as one of the best lip treatments I had ever used. Over one year on and that opinion still hasn’t changed in the slightest.

The Vitamin E Lip Conditioner is one of my all-time favourites as it’s soo nourishing and really softens my lips. (Vitamin E is also one of the best ingredients a lip balm can have, so if you’re buying a lip product and it says it contains Vitamin E, then you know you’re on to a good thing!)

This is definitely a winter must-have for me.

Staple classic: Vaseline

vaseline

You can’t go wrong with good old Vaseline!

Whether it’s the tin, the squeezy tube or the lip balm, it’s such a staple product of every girl’s handbag and definitely a longstanding staple of mine!

I’m always buying tins of Vaseline and I have an absolute ton of them! I remember doing a clear out of my room before and finding so many tins of Vaseline that they filled an actual cardboard box!! Another big favourite of mine as you can see from the picture is Soap & Glory’s A Great Kisser. They always have brilliant lip products but this particular one is soo good.

The Classic Favourite: Elizabeth Arden 8 Hour Intensive Lip Repair Balm

elizabeth arden

Like Dr Pawpaw, Elizabeth Arden’s 8 Hour Cream is an amazing multi-purpose product that you can use on your lips and skin. It was originally developed for soothing horses hooves, so that alone will tell you how super-moisturising it is! Victoria Beckham is a massive fan of it as are the majority of celebs!

You can use the original 8 Hour Cream on your lips if you wish, but I prefer to use the 8 Hour Intensive Lip Repair Balm. I first reviewed it here back in 2013 and I still love it. It’s thicker in consistency so it’s incredibly moisturising for dry lips.

A tiny bit goes a VERY long way which means it lasts ages. In terms of the lip products in the Elizabeth Arden 8 Hour range, my favourite is definitely the Intensive Lip Repair Balm but you can also pick up the Nourishing Lip Balm, and the Lip Protectant Stick.

In fact, if you want to try the lip products as well as the original 8 Hour Cream, then you should pick up the gift set. Now is the ideal time to get one.

Budget balm: W7 Lip Bomb

W7 Lip bomb trio

If you’re looking for a cheap and cheerful lip balm to throw in your handbag, this is a pretty good option. They will make your lips feel really nice and soft, though I’m not sure if they actually contain any ‘lip repairing’ properties. The pink one (pink cherry) is particularly nice in terms of flavour and scent.

It’s similar in shape the The Balmi, which is another lip balm I absolutely love. I first reviewed The Balmi here in 2013 and it impressed me from the get-go. It’s not greasy or sticky and it contains SPF15 too which is a big bonus.

Both are available from most pharmacies nationwide.

So Moisturising: Clarins Moisture Replenishing Lip Balm

clarins

Clarins Moisture Replenishing Lip Balm is great if you suffer from dry chapped lips that are in need of TLC. I found it fast working not to mention incredibly moisturising, (which is most likely thanks to the rose wax it contains).

It’s thick texture means also means you only need a tiny amount of the balm whenever you apply it.
