During changing seasons its important we adapt our beauty regimes too. Weather, and temperature as well as the activities we do can all have huge effects on our hair and skin. The Summer more so than others, with increased sunshine (sometimes!) and holidays abroad to hotter climates. We all have regular beauty routines that we use all year round but sometimes a little tweaking is needed to adapt to an new season. We’ve listed some beauty switch-up’s that we should all be using.
1) Waterproof Mascara
Summer time means warm days, beach holidays, barbeques in the sun. And lets face it, as much as we’d like to think we can go au naturel with our looks, sometimes a little mascara is just needed for comfort. But there’s nothing worse than a couple of hours in the heat to lift off your shades and find you have sweated your eyeballs into raccoon rings!! Solution – Waterproof mascara! A simple switch to waterproof at the beginning of the Summer will help you through those heat-induced eye emergencies.
2) Tinted Moisturiser
Another beauty trap many of us fall into is wearing makeup by the pool and the beach. While waterproof mascara is fine, caked on foundation, however, is not. The heat and humidity will open your pores causing all sorts of makeup related bacteria to seep right in, not to mention the sweating and patching its sure to look like. Try switching to tinted moisturiser. Its a double functioning change – It will help keep your skin hydrated in the sun whilst also providing mild coverage.
3) Summer Lips
Most of us find that is our lips that are affected first and worst in Summer. The quick changes in weather, especially in Ireland, one day its raining, the next its beaming sunshine – Our lips can’t keep up. A strong spf lip balm which can only cost you a couple of euro should be used every day. You an even apply it first and still top up over with your favourite lippy. Bright Summer lips that stay soft and kissable
4) Frizzy Hair Fix-Up
If you’ve got a touch of Monica Geller and the humidity plays havoc with your hair it’s time to make a couple of change-up’s in your hair care. When blow-drying use a diffuser attachment to your hair dryer, less heat damage and a smoother finish. Your hair will be taking enough hits when exposed to the sun, so an initial fix-up at home can help. Anti-frizz serum, conditioning spray and heat protecting lotion – There are so many products out there to get your mitts on to keep that mane tamed. The more the better, you’ll smell great and feel great knowing you won’t be mistaken for a member of The Supremes at your poolside party.
Your feet need more care than ever in the Summer. You might have gotten away with keeping them hidden in boots and socks all year round, but when things heat up – the feet are back on show. You’d be surprised the amount of people who don’t give their feet a second thought. Cracked, dry skin and unsightly nails all on display for the public to see! Yuck. Try a foot soak regularly, exfoliate those soles and treat yourself to a pedicure. Many salons do cheap deals for people heading off on their holidays. If you’re going to put them tootsies on show – then start showing them some loving 🙂
